Do you think the media will treat AIDS as they do cancer and diabetes?

now there are commercials about Herpes medication and Syphilis testing...That has actually helped the taboo of STD's decrease. However, all the media talks about is AIDS testing. Do you think they will ever reach a point of advertising like that of diabetes and cancer (surviver advertisements, celebrity advocates living with it, medication commercials, etc)

I believe that will help soften the stigma of the disease...What are your opinions?

I've seen a huge change in general attitudes since the very early 80's. The public information films then portrayed images of headstones saying things like "Don't Die Of Ignorance" with scary voice overs. We don't see those any more. There is a more general approach to overall sexual health rather than focussing one one specific illness.
The best way to reduce stigma is knowledge and common sense and I think most people understand that HIV is an illness that, given the right medication, support and lifestyle can be managed and lived with. Of course politically these are contentious for the millions that don't have access to any of that.
