Stretch marks and gestational diabetes?

So, I'm 27 weeks along with baby boy number one. And last week they did the blood glucose screening. About two hours after drinking that sugary stuff and about an hour after having my blood drawn I started feeling really really sick. Like shaky and clammy and like I was going to throw up and or pass out. I got something to drink and laid down for about an hour and I felt better. Especially after drinking the Kool-Aid. I got a call from my nurse the other day saying I had to retest on Monday because my levels were high. So I'm guessing based on the reaction and the test results that I'm going to turn up a (gestational) diabetic. Does anyone have an opinion on this? What exactly does this entail and what lifestyle changes are necessary for my baby to come out healthy? Any opinions would be great! Thank you!
Oh, and also, I just started getting little purple stretch marks across the front of my belly, they aren't HORRIBLE yet and they don't itch too bad but I've been putting on cocoa butter like 3 times a day to try and help it. Any other suggestions? This is driving me nuts! Thank you all and good luck!

Keep applying the cocoa butter on the stretch marks, but it will probably not do a lot....they are not something you can control like that.

The gestational diabetes is a different story, it depends on how high your levels were. If it is only minor (hence the retest) and they are still high you should be able to control the GD through diet and exercise. If they are super high you will most likely need insulin shots or medication to control it or you could have a big baby. The reaction you had to the drink is quite common though, it is a big hit of glucose and some bodies just can't cope with that much at one time.

Just get the test redone and see what happens from there, you will probably have to do the three hour test this time.

I'm not sure about the diabetes but I'm an expert on stretch marks. I'v got them from shirt collar to short shorts. I put cocoa butter and vitamin E oil on every day and i still got them. I'm pretty sure it's probably hereditary. If there's one thing i can suggest though try really hard not to scratch them.

Well I am sorry to tell you that you more and likely have GD now you will test for three hrs the same test but for 3hrs. Then you will have to take meds, more likely you will have to take pills. your doc will talk to you. The big thing is do this as early as you can and ask if you can bring ice with you and try to drink the drink over Ice. make sure that you eat the night before but not the morning of the test. And what you eat the night before doesn't contain anything greasy. I have had GD for all of my preg but my 1st and with this last preg I have had full blown Diabetes. it sucks i have to test my sugar 6 times a day and take insulin shots 5 times a day and force myself to eat.( I am not a big eater while preg) The biggest thing that is for the baby is that they can get big, also have heart probs, but the doc are good at keeping an eye on you and the baby. I am now almost 36 weeks and I go to the hosp 2 times a week to the hosp so they can watch the baby, try not to stress to much because this is also bad for you and the baby. gl....

I also went in for my first 1 hour test weeks ago. Im now 38 weeks along. My first test I also felt light headed, very weak, tired & run down, shaky. I just wanted to find the sweetest thing I could & eat that about 100 times. By the time I made it home I already had a tester of my fathers just incase they did tell me i was a diabetic- so when I got home my sugar was down in the 30's. Which when fasting is only suppost to go 70 & no lower. I knew id get a call. 2 days later I was in for my 3 hour testing & 2 of my test came back really high & 1 was within range.

They talked to me in regards of my meal plans & gave me a phamlet & set me up with a nutrionist in the area- they give you a perscription for a tester- and Im to test 4 times a day. Upon awakening, 1 hour after break, 1 hour after lunch, 1 hour after dinner. My morning numbers need to be between 70-90 & my 1 hour after numbers no higher than 120. Lets put it this way- i went all the way to 140 and my doctor said it was okay but I can't go any higher than that.

It's not as bad as you think- it's mostly watching your sugar intake & cutting down carbs- breads, pasta, rice, pototoes. And if you decide to eat it- the main word is "WHOLE GRAIN" if it says whole grain on it- it's better than white. Use splenda if you still crave the sugar- which i did. I hope all goes well.

Your doing great with the cocoa butter- do it every morning & every night- also the wrinkle cream for underneath the eyes is very good for the belly- it could come in a serum or a cream. Good luck!!!! :)
