A answer to a past question of mine contained this.
"I'd rather see animals roam freely than find a cure for AIDS.
It's our fault we lock animals up and eat them!
AIDS is our problem!
Because monkey get tested and tortured and get their bone marrow sucked out for US! US HUMANS!
ITs not even their choice!
Those diseases are our problems!!!"

Am I crazy or is this a statement that brings truth to the notion that this organization has reached far beyond the mindset of sanity? if anyone would care to read the original question heres the link
http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index;... There is something wrong when you hurt a creature just for fun....
But this is retarded.... i do think that it is cruel for animals to go through what they go through for scientific reasons. the pain and suffering they go through for us is sick. animals feel pain the same as we do they just have different ways of expressing their pain. obviously in an ideal world it would be fab if animals were free to roam the world but we are not in an ideal world are we? those animals do save lives. diseases are our problem and we are trying to deal with those problems any way we can and unfortunately the only we can is tio find cures and to find cures we need the animals. it sucks but thats life. PETA is my favorite Organization.

That other "PETA" group is just a bunch of Loons.
YTP Yeah, Peta people are kind of "out there".
Logic doesn't seem to get in their way much.
But there are worse organizations - Ark II comes to mind. As in any group there are extremest, As for me personally I'm not a Vegetarian but I eat 'em! I think all PETA members should be lined up and shot! PETA is a terrible organization and should be despised by all.
PETA kills animals.
From July 1998 through December 2007, People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA) killed over 19,200 dogs, cats, and other "companion animals."
PETA kills animals.
That's more than five defenseless creatures every day.
PETA has a walk-in freezer to store the dead bodies, and contracts with a Virginia Beach company to cremate them.
Not counting the pets PETA spayed and neutered, the group put to death over 90 percent of the animals it took in during the last five years.

PETA claims to be dedicated to protecting animals and treating them "ethically"鈥攊t鈥檚 right there in the group鈥檚 name. But killing animals that could otherwise be placed in adoptive homes isn鈥檛 terribly ethical, especially for a group whose $30 million annual income is more than enough to do the right thing instead.

On its 2002 federal income-tax return, PETA claimed a $9,370 write-off for a giant walk-in freezer, the kind most people use as a meat locker or for ice-cream storage.

But animal-rights activists don't eat meat or dairy foods. And during a 2007 criminal trial, a PETA manager (testifying under oath) confirmed the obvious -- that the group uses the appliance to store the bodies of its victims.

PETA rakes in nearly $30 million each year in income, much of it raised from pet owners who think their donations actually help animals. Instead, the group spends huge sums on programs equating people who eat chicken with Nazis, scaring young children away from drinking milk, recruiting children into the radical animal-rights lifestyle, and intimidating businessmen and their families in their own neighborhoods.

PETA has also spent tens of thousands of dollars defending arsonists and other violent extremists.
PETA kills animals.
PETA claims it engages in outrageous media-seeking stunts "for the animals." But which animals? Carping about the value of future two-piece dinners while administering lethal injections to puppies and kittens isn't ethical. It's hypocritical -- with a death toll that PETA would protest if it weren't their own doing.

1) PETA president and co-founder Ingrid Newkirk has described her group鈥檚 overall goal as 鈥渢otal animal liberation.鈥?This means no meat, no milk, no zoos, no circuses, no wool, no leather, no hunting, no fishing, and no pets (not even seeing-eye dogs). PETA is also against all medical research that requires the use of animals.

2) Despite its constant moralizing about the 鈥渦nethical鈥?treatment of animals by restaurant owners, grocers, farmers, scientists, anglers, and countless other Americans, PETA has killed over 14,400 dogs and cats at its Norfolk, Virginia headquarters. During 2005, PETA put to death over 90 percent of the animals it collected from members of the public.

3) PETA has given tens of thousands of dollars to convicted arsonists and other violent criminals. This includes a 2001 donation of $1,500 to the North American Earth Liberation Front (ELF), an FBI-certified 鈥渄omestic terrorist鈥?group responsible for dozens of firebombs and death threats. During the 1990s, PETA paid $70,200 to an Animal Liberation Front (ALF) activist convicted of burning down a Michigan State University research laboratory. In his sentencing recommendation, a federal prosecutor implicated PETA president Ingrid Newkirk in that crime. And PETA vegetarian campaign coordinator Bruce Friedrich told an animal rights convention in 2001 that 鈥渂lowing stuff up and smashing windows鈥?is 鈥渁 great way to bring about animal liberation.鈥?br>

4) PETA activists regularly target children as young as six years old with anti-meat and anti-milk propaganda, often waiting outside their schools to intercept them as they walk to and from class-without notifying parents. One piece of kid-targeted PETA literature tells small children: 鈥淵our Mommy Kills Animals!鈥?PETA brags that its messages reach over 2 million children every year, including thousands reached by e-mail without the permission of their parents. One PETA vice president told the Fox News Channel鈥檚 audience: 鈥淥ur campaigns are always geared towards children, and they always will be.鈥?br>

5) PETA has used a related organization, the PETA Foundation, to fund the misnamed Physicians Committee for Responsible Medicine (PCRM), a deceptive animal rights group that promotes itself as an unbiased source of medical and nutritional information. PCRM's president also serves as president of the PETA Foundation.
