Affirmative Action reforms?

Should affirmative action be reformed? I feel that it should.

They should actually add a quota for white workers, just like the minorities.

Also, i feel that it needs to base all scholarships on testing, GPA's, and applications, Financial aid is fine, but scholarships given to minorities for that reason is simply wrong!

Any ideas that YOU have?

I have no problem with it being illegal to discriminate, but I do have a problem with the government telling an institution that they have to accept so many of a certain race. That is discrimination also.

I don't believe that the gov't should push racial preferences in any way. Whether it's hiring or firing it should be based solely on merit not skin color or gender.

As to scholarships; there are many private organizations that provide for disadvantaged or minorities or women or whatever. If I don't want the gov't to get involved in that either.

Get the gov't out of race and see racism go away. (except for Jessie Jackson, Al Sharpton and their kind of racism)

It should be abolished. Substituting group membership for academic and individual achievement does nothing more than deny opportunity to our best and brightest. This is economic suicide in a world economy where we are competing with the best and brightest from other cultures.

Also, it doesn't work as evidenced by Michelle Obama's lame attempt at a Princeton senior thesis. After 4 years at Princeton she still wrote at a 8th grade level. For crying out loud that thesis had a 94 word run on sentence in it.

Affirmative action is just plain government sanctioned discrimination. You can't have it both ways, either you can hire someone based on their race or you can't.

No, it help my mother get a good paying job. It help my sister get into college. And we are white.
