if you are active, yes. if you see a doctor pertaining to any sexual activity, i think you should get tested, its really mistake or unknowing what you have is what makes everyone else get it too. just like if you gt an exam, you get tested for many std's and if one comes back positive, you are reported to the health department, and registered, i think this is the key to survival,cant no one stop aids unless you are bill gates, or magic johnson!!!

I do. One problem with HIV is that because there are rarely any early symptoms, so people can pass it on before they know that they themselves are infected. Also, fear prevents some people from getting the test, and that raises the risk that those people will pass the virus on without knowing about their own infection.

Of course, as someone else mentioned, confidentiality is an issue. I do believe that even if testing is mandatory, results should remain confidential, only to be released with the person's written consent.

Testing in my state currently requires written consent, and I can not release results, even to a client's counselor or doctor, without their written consent--even if the client is only 14 years old. The only exception to this is that positive results are automatically reported to the State Health Department, and the local Department of Health office provides assistance with confirmatory testing, connection with medical specialists and other supportive resources, and they also help in contacting the sexual partners of the infected person, so that they can be tested. The HIV+ person's name is not revealed, the people are just advised that they need to be tested.

No, because no one has the right to take blood from someones body. It's infringing on people's rights. And no one has the right to take blood from anyone without consent.

And that would only bring on more testing for other things as well.

However, I do think people should be tested yearly, more so if they are changing partners, are drug users or work in areas where they could become infected.

it should be mandatory but the results should be confidential like any other doctors test. nothiing could ruin someones life like having a banner branded aids over them
