i've done a little research and asked people questions. but no one can give a definite answer. but i feel the more answers i get from a variety of different people could aid in helping me, so i've decided to ask the lovely people on y!a (you guys) your thoughts and opinions.
this is what i gather, Lucifer was in heaven with god, but he had a lot of pride in himself and felt like he should be put before God. and in (Isaiah 14:3-20) Lucifer wants to make his throne higher than the clouds over the earth and resemble "'My power' on high". he is kicked out of heaven and cast to earth where he becomes Satan that tempts and challenges the religion faith of humans. so that's his purpose, Lucifer and Satan are the same person, a powerful fallen angel that is evil and set out to do harm to those that follow christ and believe in God. and a fallen angel from heaven is a demon, but since satan is the king of the demons and he gets people to follow him he is given the title of devil. right? and his demons are not really demons but are our sins personified. like:
Lucifer-pride
Asmodeus-lust
Leviathan-envy
Beelzebub-gluttony
Belphegor-sloth
its's all confusing. i've read that the devil doesn't have any power of than that which we give him. satan is believed to be an adversary of God, but is really an adversary of humanity. in the book of job the devil seeks God's permission to test Job's faith and loyalty to God.
so with all that being said do you see the devil or satan or whatever you like to call him as i decribed or do you see him and his purpose differently? Wow, yeah you have it down. Good job on the research! So now that you have done research, what do you believe? The devil wanted power. He dident get none. God threw him out of his kingdom, and the devil trys tricks on Gods servents. Demons are the devils servents while Gods servents are angels. Lucifer is 2nd in command i guess lol Well the bible can be very helpfull but dangerous at the same time. You have to remember it was written by humans after Jesus Christ was crusified.
Hell is earth....We are all living in hell once we die our spirits go to another world reconnect with past loved ones and so on.
And always remember that GOD loves us...Both Mother and Father GOD love us. I see him as you described, a fallen angel who was cast out of heaven and will do whatever he can to lead people astray or cause trouble and evil on earth till his time is up There's a lot of evidence that Satan is not what Christians make him out to be. Look, it's all just stories, read some other fiction but don't get hung up in the details of the plot. There are no Gods or Angels etc. There is a better source to understand this . wow. i admire your interest in religion..
kudos for doing the research.
yes, i do see him in pretty much the same way... Most people overly hate Jesus for no reason, to say there's no Devil.
Yes, as you described it. they are really beings who got kicked out...
APRADISE WAS HERE BEFORE SATAN RUINED THAT...HE HATES all humans... Actually, if you read Isaiah carefully, Lucifer is NOT an angel at all, but a man, "born of man", who attempts to raise himself above everyone/everything else and gets punished for it as an object lesson.
Ezekiel on the other hand, tries to equate "Lucifer" with a Satanic and angelic being. From the start, a telling sign AGAINST an identification with Satan is that the equation here was made in the 3rd and 4th century AD, by church writers -- not by scribes of either the OT or NT era.
Other than that, the Old Testament makes NO reference to any Satanic being or fallen angel. It is PURELY a latter day invention. Historians generally agree that the Lucifer mentioned in Isaiah (the only place in the Bible where that name is used) doesn't refer to Satan or the Devil at all. Rather, it references a title used by a Babylonian King during the Babylonian Captivity of the Jews. It was an allegorical warning against his pride and his confining of the Jews.
In the Old Testament, and in the Jewish view, Satan is *not* an adversary to God. instead the term satan literally means adversary and he acts as an adversary to humans, testing their faith in God through hardship and temptation. He does this with God's approval.
Names of demons come from a variety of places. Asmodeus is mentioned in the Book of Tobit, which is only included in Catholic Bibles. Neither Jews nor Protestants accept it. Beelzebub is probably a localized name for the pagan god Ba'al, worshipped in the same area. According to basic Islamic teachings, God created three intelligent races: angels, jinns and humans, of which the latter two have been granted free will to choose between good and evil.
Iblis was of a jinn and was a devoted servant of God. He attained a very high status and was brought close with the angels. God knew Iblis harboured ill intentions, however, and this was the reason for his name, Iblis "Desperate".
The angels do not have free will and simply do not sin because they were not granted the freedom by God to disobey. When God created Adam, He commanded all the angels and jinn to prostrate to him as was termed "the Best of Creation". All the angels and jinn did so except Iblis, who refused to obey.
And We created you (humans), then fashioned you, then told the angels: Fall ye prostrate before Adam! And they fell prostrate, all save Iblis, who was not of those who made prostration.
He said: "What hindered thee that thou didst not fall prostrate when I bade thee?" (Iblis) said: "I am better than him. Thou createdst me of fire while him Thou didst create of mud". [Qur'an 7:11]
Iblis was proud and arrogant and considered himself superior to Adam, since Adam was made from clay and Iblis was created from smokeless fire. For this act of disobedience, God cursed him to Hell for eternity, but gave him respite until the Day of Judgment, after Iblis requested it. Iblis obtained permission from God and vowed that he would use this time to lead all human men and women astray to Hell as a way of revenge against them. By refusing to obey God鈥檚 order he was thrown out of Paradise and thereafter he was called 鈥淪haitan鈥?
He said: Then go down hence! It is not for thee to show pride here, so go forth! Lo! thou art of those degraded.
He said: Reprieve me till the Day (of Judgement) when they are raised (from the dead).
He said: Lo! thou art of those reprieved.
He said: Now, because Thou hast sent me astray, verily I shall lurk in ambush for them on Thy Right Path.
Then I shall come upon them from before them and from behind them and from their right hands and from their left hands, and Thou wilt not find most of them beholden (unto Thee).
He said: Go forth from hence, degraded, banished. As for such of them as follow thee, surely I will fill hell with all of you.[Qur'an 7:14]
Although God grants the request, He also warns the Shay峁乶 that he would have no authority over His sincere 鈥榰b奴d "devoted servants".
Lo! My (faithful) bondmen - over them thou hast no power, and thy Lord sufficeth as (their) guardian.[Qur'an 17:65] everything right except the part of the demons being our sins. When satan decided he wanted to be like God and be higher than God he got 1/3 of all the angels in heaven to side with him. So satan and his now allied 1/3 of all the angels in heaven had a war with God and the remaining 2/3 of angels in heaven. Satan lost and was cast to earth along with the 1/3 that sided with him. The 1/3 that sided with satan are the demons that hinder all those who believe in Jesus as their saviour. satan and the 1/3 are all fallen angels (demons) but satan is pretty much the leader The Old Testament
"How you are fallen from heaven, O Lucifer, son of the morning! How you are cut down to the grounds, you who weakened the nations! For you have said in your heart: 鈥業 will ascend into heaven, I will exalt my throne above the stars of God; I will also sit on the mount of the congregation on the farthest sides of the north; I will ascend above the heights of the clouds, I will be like the Most High.鈥?quot; (Is. 14:12-14)
In that day the LORD with His severe sword, great and strong, will punish Leviathan the fleeing serpent, Leviathan that twisted serpent; and He will slay the reptile that is in the sea. (Is. 27:1)
The New Testament
Then he fell to the ground, and heard a voice saying to him, "Saul, Saul, why do you persecuting Me?" (Acts 9:4)
And what accord has Christ with Belial? Or what part has a believer with an unbeliever? (2 Cor. 6:15)
So the great dragon was cast out, that serpent of old, called the Devil and Satan, who deceives the whole world; he was cast to the earth, and his angels were cast out with him. (Rev. 12:9)
Word Wealth
Since Satan is the Hater, he is all more opposed to God, who is love.
Notes
These verses are still part of the proverb against the king of Babylon. The language, however, shows that he is a type of Satan. Lucifer means "Light Bearer." The basic sin was that of unchecked personal ambition, desiring to be equal to or above God.
Leviathan is the name of a creature of chaos in ancient mythology, which is used by Isaiah as a type of God's enemies who were incited by Satan. It thus personifies evil, which God will ultimately slay.
Saul was not just persecuting people; he was opposing Christ.
Belial, one of the many names for Satan, transliterates a Hebrew word meaning "worthlessness" or perhaps "lawlessness."
Source
Scripture taken from the New King James Version. I Peter 5:8 I believe the scripture is clear, satan is the enemy of men
(humans).
devil means liar. He is an illusionist who can transform himself as an angel of light II cor 11:14.
He his a liar, deceiver illusionist, therefore everything that is fake, imitated, illusion , fantasy, comes from the deceiver.
It will be ignorance to say you can se him in a specific transformation.
If he was to manifest himself as an ugly creature ( wich he has to me in the past) and ask you to sin, would you do it? I don't think so, but if a beautyfull, unresistible woman/ man ask you to sin with her/him. You will consider the idea.
I believe that the Devil does have power to do evil to humanity but if we trust in God, he shall protect us. God does allow evil to happen to good people but as long as we have faith in him, we will overcome the tests. I believe that demons are Satan's bad angels but not something within us. Satan isnt out mostly to get the already evil people, but the holy because he knows he has a short amount of time to do so. |
