Can any community college students in chicago please answer this?!?

okay so now i take my ged test next week but i want to start community college but the thing is that i dont understand whether or not i would already have to be signed up for financial aid or could i still go take the placement test.i already signed up for fafsa but they told me that my request was suspended because they already had such high demand from current college students that they didnt have the funds right now.and when i went up to the college for the tour they told me that i could take the placement test and start school before getting my GED but i couldnt officially get my diploma from them with out one. how old do you have to be to start college? i know it might sound like a dumb question but im just kind of nervous for starting college for the first time without my mother.

Well I live in missouri but im sure its the same thing. You can start college without your GED but you should be working on it while in college. I think in missouri you have to get your GED within a year. Yes sometimes with the fafsa (grants) money does run out. Thats why you should apply as soon as possible like right after you do your taxes each year. Maybe you can apply for next year. or possibly take out a student loan. I would go take your entrance exam and get started on GED classes and get that taken care of.. good luck and congrats on starting school
