Wait time for Prosthetics or Orthotics?

I'm wondering what the usual wait time for these sort of mobility aids in other places.

I was cast for a test socket the first week of September and I still have no word on if it is ready or not. That's a long time right? Or is everyone else in the same boat?

actually Prosthetics and Orthotics are not covered under provincial health care. They are essentially private. so it wouldn't fall under the Canadian health care system. In the past I've gotten in with in two weeks. it's just this year there has been a lag.

4-6 weeks unless you are for some reason put on the fast track. They should have told you when you would get it when it was ordered. Why not call them?

Usually I get a call from my Prosthetics/Orthodics co. within about a week to set up an appt. to see if the test socket fits. Then, if everything did fit right, The new permanent one is done within 1-2 weeks. You should be getting your permanent socket by now. Call them and find out what the hold up is.

Well, you're in Canada, and I KNOW that lead time for ALL medical care is significantly longer than here in the states, so any answer we Americans can give would be pretty meaningless. You might want to aim your question more specifically at fellow Canadians.

My daughter usually get her braces and what not in 2-4 weeks. Sometimes we have waited longer because they were coming from really far away. It never hurts to call the provider to see if they have any news on why it is taking so long.

At the VA in North Carolina, it was only about 2 weeks, but I was an in-patient at time. Hanger did it.

You should call the provider and ask why your test socket is taking so long.
