With getting a tattoo or peircing is it 100% safe, no risk of disease? do they use new needles everytime? |
im in australia,, by the way Australia has very high higene standards and the tattoo industry is highly regulated when it comes to using needles. Nothing is ever 100% risk free. If you go to a reputable piercing studio, they will use brand new needles that have been sterilized. People who get Hep C from piercing or tattoo needles are usually DIY jobs or went to absolutely horrible places. Needles are cheap, it would take more effort to re-use them than to just get new ones. AIDS is also very hard to transmit through piercing needles, as the virus is very fragile and dies upon exposure to air. Hep C is a valid concern when it comes to used piercing needles as it can live up to 8 days outside the body and on surfaces. A reputable studio knows this and has extensive training in cross contamination and blood-borne pathogens. Just be sure when you go that all tools, needles and jewelry come from new un-opened packages. You can ask to see their certifications and autoclave if you're worried (I never get offended when people want to see this type of thing.) Okay, any good studio will use new needles for any ink or piercing every time- if they don't open fresh in front of you- haul outta there! There is no risk of aids or any blood/body fluid contagious disease if this is done as the needle has never been in contact with any one else. The other answerers are quite right, the ones that get these type of diseases had them done by a friend or did them their selves with out sterile equipment and shared it around. I SHOULD HOPE THEY'RE USING A BRAND NEW NEEDLE!!!!! Actually new needles is a requirement and if they don't, get the hell out of there. Even take a look around at the place your getting done making it sure it looks clean before you let them touch you. The place where I got my tattoo done was immaculate and the needles were wrapped in sterilised, air tight packaging right up until the moment my tattoo artist started the tattoo. Know where you are going and tell them about your fears. They will most likely show you exactly what they do to sterilize, etc. You are in full blown mid-life crisis. If you do this safely it is just not going to help you. I got my last one in the basement of a Hells Angels bar in Amsterdam. I think you need to get a maori tat in the Tasman. You will not regret it. A tat without a harrowing story to go with it is not worth the time. Depends on the shop. Make sure they put a new needle - out of the wrapper - into the machine in front of you. Nothing is 100% risk free, you have to be proactive. Yes they use new needles and get inspected for sanitation. People who get diseases from it normally are the ones who get them done at parties or someones house. If you go to pro than you will be fine =) It is risk to take if youu get them done at a party or a house but getting at a proffesional is perfectly ffline/ As long as you go to a reputable artist or tattoo shop. DO NOT get them done at a house party!!! In my state all the shops are state regulated and have to pass strict guidelines. LMAO |
