Should i let my 4 year old with ptsd continue kindergarten or go back to preschool mid year?

my 4 year old daughter(turns 5 in nov) started kindergarten this year she is doing good except for language art(letter sounds, rhyming, etc). she went through s abuse situation over the summer visiting dad and know is dealing with ptsd. her school called a conference and presented with me with options and im confused on what to do. i can move her to prekindergarten again( before this she tested in fine to kindergarten), keep her in kindergarten and work with her and the teacher will help and there is another aid thing they do starting after the mid year mark to help get the kids falling behind caught up. any advice????

As far as I can tell she is above her grade level if she is only 4. Didn't know you could start until you were five.

Upsetting her schedule may do more harm than good. It may make her feel different, or that her situation is bigger than she first thought. In other words, right now you are teaching her how to react to hard times.

Personally, I would leave her in and see if she catches up on her own. Kids are remarkably resiliant. Kids get powerful messages at her age. Example: I was taught early on that I had to do nothing in class. Literally, I just sat there, and the teachers let me. I don't think they meant to teach me I could get out of public school by doing nothing but they did.We get imprinted on easily at a young age. I know that is not her situation, but I say that to say that kids learn things adults don't realise.

See if you can get her in Art therapy or something to cope with her feelings. This will be of more value the rest of her ife, as there are many adults who have not learned to cope with stress.

And so what if she does fall behind, she was ahead anyway. At least give her a real shot before you put her back.
