What do you do after you apply for a college?

I applied for a community college because of money.
So far all I've done is apply to the school and financial aid.
Now I need to drop off my transcripts, take some tests, and go to orientation. What I'd like to know is, after you do all that dandy stuff, where do I go from there?

I'm more worried about actually getting myself in school, in a desk, with all paperwork set and all because I have the tendency to lag with applications, appointments etc. I basically missed fall semester because I wasn't on top of things. So any info about the whole registration process and financial aid and what not would really help. Thanks

After you drop off transcripts, take placement tests, and go to orientation, I would recommend going to see a counselor. He/she will create a list of all the general education classes that you need to take...this is important because those classes fill up fast...this way you will know exactly what classes you will need and can register for them right away. If you lag classes with good start/end time will get taken and you will have to take night classes, will have to wait hours in between classes, or will be forced to take classes next semester. Trust me you don鈥檛 want to be stuck at a community college for more than 2 years. Get your degree quick and start making money! Good luck. (LOL and don鈥檛 get pregnant or party a lot while in college鈥hat will put your education on hold for a while if not permanently)

Sorry. I mean thanks homegirl.

Do you think general ed classes are filled by now?
Fall sem starts mid Fed. and I'll have to set an appointment with the counselor huh?
I'm kind of intimidated with this whole process thing. Rawr! Report Abuse

Just wait for an acceptance letter and keep searching of other ways to apply to other community colleges, as well as PELL grants, loans, etc...and just show up, usually there are empty seats because the schools want the money.

Wait for your acceptance letter if the CC doesn't automatically accept you. After you get your letter, prepare to go and then eventually go.

Good luck!
