Mayor Michael Bloomberg for 2012?????!!!!!! ?

I am a moderate Republican and I am intrigued by Michael Bloomberg. I agree with him on most issues, besides gun control. He even seems to care about the environment, and has passed legislation to make sure all NYC taxi cabs will be hybrids in 2012. The enviornment and immigration are two of the more important issues as before anyone reaches the White House, the Iraq War will be winding down. Bloomberg wants to make it so illegal immigrant have rights, but that companies that are thought to employ illegals can be investigated if a federal body wants to. There has also been a decent reduction in crime since Bloomberg has become Mayor of New York. Overall, he seems like a very fair candidate and he is pretty intelligent.

Mike Bloomberg, but he hasn't declared yet. If he does, he'll be running as an independent and should be taken very seriously by the American public (but not enough to win the election).

He was the upset winner of NYC's Mayoral election in 2001 and took office in January 2002, just months after 9/11.

His approval rating is at 70% now which is unheard of in American politics today and unprecedented in NYC. In November of 2001 no one gave Bloomberg a chance against NYC's democratic machine and yet he was elected mayor.

Fiscally speaking, he's definitely not liberal and the most ultra-liberal New Yorkers hate him. He's done an outstanding job as Mayor of NYC keeping that city financially afloat while recovering from the spiritual, psychological and economic disaster that 9/11 was. Bloomberg is recognized by both liberal and conservative media in NYC as one of the greatest mayors the city has ever had.

Rather than wait for the federal aid Bush promised in the wake of 9/11 and then never delivered, he implemented tax-cuts and cut social programs across the board. He even had the "audacity" to close some firehouses that were financially and tactically unnecessary. He has also kept that city's citizen's and police force vigilant in "keeping an eye out" for terrorist activity. I don't know about the rest of the country, but the reason NYC hasn't had another terrorist attack has nothing to do with George Bush or Hillary Clinton and everything to do with Mike Bloomberg.

He forced the Board of Education to stop the decades long policy of social promotion where kids were promoted regardless of grades. He insisted that kids who didn't pass reading and math proficiency tests would have to repeat grades and/or go to summer school. Where accountability was called for, he made accountability a requirement.

He has frequently and consistently gone to Washington D.C. to testify before Congress and complain about pork spending and irresponsible governing by BOTH parties.

He's fiscally conservative and socially liberal like most of America tends to be and unlike all of our politicians today, Mike Bloomberg made his money the old-fashioned way: he EARNED it. He doesn't take a salary as mayor and he won't as president either.

Mike Bloomberg is the real deal.

HOWEVER!!!!! here's the reality check:BECAUSE HE IS AN INDEPENDENT CANDIDATE, HE WOULD PROBABLY SPLIT VOTES WITH REPUBLICANS WHICH ASSURES A "100% WIN". FOR THE DEMOCRATS.

If the Republican's get a candidate who is anti-immigration completely (Huckabee or Romney) the result will be the business wing of the Republican party throwing their support fully behind Bloomberg meaning he splits the Republican vote.

He'll take about 5% from dems across the board but offers to take up to 30% of the Republicans across the nation. The risk is much more damaging to the Republicans of a Bloomberg run.

Would you actually consider voting for IND. Mayor Michael Bloomberg?

Should he run for president in 2012.

I don't like him.

He is the FDR of Mayors.

I would not vote for anybody who would pass legislation due to Climate Change, not even my mom.

I would not, as a conservative, vote for Michael Bloomberg. He is a Republican in name only and joined the party because there was no Republican candidate on the ballot.

Personally, I wouldn't piss up Michael Bloomberg's *** if his guts were on fire.

Bloomberg is changing the law so he can run for office again as mayor. Remember how upset everyone was with Rudy for wanting to do the same thing, but he didn't. Bloomberg is no moderate and no self respecting Republican would vote for him. He is taxing NYC to death, and is not the least bit Conservative.
