Any advice on what colleges to look at?

Based on my GPA, which is about 3.5 or so (4.01 weighted), and my test scores: 2210 SAT and 33 ACT, and a National Merit semifinalist (Ohio). Unfortunately my GPA took a big hit my junior year, partly due to tough family matters (it was an emotional time). I've begun to compile a small list of colleges I want to look at as possible places where I might get accepted. The stipulation is that I need massive amounts of financial aid, as my family simply cannot afford to help me go to college, and going to a good, respected school is important to me personally.

A sincere thank you to all who answered my last question! I really feel a lot better about my future education career now. I just wanted to get a few more opinions on this.

Since I live in Ohio, I chose two schools, the Ohio State University (most likely candidate) and Miami University as potential safety schools. I'm also looking at Cornell (planning on applying ED there, with fingers double-crossed), Columbia, NYU, Amherst, and UPenn, as my "dream" list. Even I know the Big Three are way out of reach, lol. I've also begun to compile a secondary college wishlist of places like Chicago, Notre Dame, Northwestern, and maybe Brown, though I think I'm forgetting a couple. What attracted me to the Ivy League schools isn't that I consider myself smart, but their amazing financial aid programs coupled with their general awesomeness as colleges. :P

So my request is for any suggestions on what schools I could add to my lists as potential "maybes" based on my stats (preferably if they offer generous aid), and also for advice on how to narrow down my choices (Lord knows I'm not going to apply for 10+ colleges, I'd just like 5 or so). I've been to several universities, but the one that tops the l ist is UT Austin, TX. The first thing you need to do is to change your dependence status to independent. For IRS reasons. This will allow you go got more financial aid. Financial aid is always first come first serve, so the earlier you get your FA in, the more you get. You want to turn in your FA appication as soon as your income taxes are made, like JAN 1st if possible. For the following school year. I receive about 7,000 after my tuition is paid. This being all grants and scholarships. NO LOANS!
