Can I buy someone a hearing aid off the NHS? If not, where from?

One of family is VERY deaf but absolutely refuses to go for a hearing test and denies that she's deaf so I thought I'd buy her a hearing aid to avoid her having to go for a test. Can I buy one for her off the NHS without her going for a test? If not, where can I buy one from for a reasonable price? I'm worried that she'll walk out in front of a car and get killed or something because she can't hear traffic, has poor vision without glasses (which she hardly ever wears) and has nearly been run over before. Maca has it spot-on! The person with the hearing problem has to do it personally. Private or NHS. The only thing you can do is maybe buy the person in question an amplifier! It's tough when someone with a hearing problem denies that there is a problem. They probably have ther own personal reasons.

you cannot buy a hearing aid from the nhs, and you cannot buy a private one either unless the patient is willing to go for a hearing test as they are normally made individually for each person, they should first of all see there own doctor for advice on this subject who would refer them or advice on a private one

Maca's right,she has to be referred by her doc and go for a test.Drag her along if you have to.
The only ones you can buy are the ones advertised in the papers and I don't know what they are like.
