Should I go for LPN or RN?

I became a CNA recently and I'm applying for home health agencies. I had to get my physical and TB test and 1st hep.B shot, due for the 2nd one in a month. Then I was thinking about taking the LPN course. I have applied to the local college for the RN course but I see that I have to take a lot of pre-reqs and I will have to pay for them (I"m trying to apply for financial aid). So I thought, maybe I could go to the local votech and apply for the LPN instead, since it's 11 months long and no pre-reqs. I have no way of paying and I saw that I will have to pay way more for the RN course. And also I believe I can graduate sooner as a LPN and start working after I take my state board. I don't know exactly what is the best thing to do. I do know RNs make more than LPNs. I live in FL. What is your feedback on this matter?

I would follow your course you've already laid out. Once you get the LPN, you can follow up with the RN, and whoever you work for might even be able to help pay for the courses. To be really sure, go to www.dol.gov, look for your state, and then look for the careers. It'll tell you everything you need to know. Good luck!!

My mothers an LPN and she makes excellent money working the night shift at the hospital. She will not upgrade to a RN as shes liking the LPN just as well.

If I were you, since you stated you couldn't afford the RN course right now, Id go on & go with the LPN. Get you incense and then start working & move yourself up to a RN when you have the money & you feel you are ready!

Either way your getting a good start on your career! & I wish you the best of luck sweetie!.

Hi. I did some research and found that RN's are better than LPN in general. I would suggest going for a RN. Get a loan, ask money from your family or friends and pay them back later on when you start making real money.
I also want to become a nurse, can you give me any advice?
