Can Fish Swim? How Do You Know?

O.K- Now that I've got your attention:

I'm 20. Admission for NOVA Community College In VA went well. My father is unemployed, but I got hired this past thursday and I'm going to start this coming tuesday. The problem is, I gotta go take the placement test tomorrow(monday) in order to be complete for semester start witch is Dec.19(friday). My dilemma is that if my pops gets paid this week sometime before friday then I'm good to go to pay for at least 1 -2 classes until I get enough money to add classes. If he doesn't get money this week am I forced to drop out of the whole admissions process I've just done and say I wont be able to pay? Because its not realistic how I can get my paycheck within a week of starting you see.

How does financial aid work? do i need to apply ''weeks'' before?

How does a payment plan work? If its a monthly payment than that would be really god and I would be able to take more classes and just pay a monthly payment when I have cash.

Thoughts plz?

P.S- It's A Part-Time Job.

Define "swim."

On Monday, take yourself to the school's financial aid office and stand in line for as long as it takes, then tell them you have an emergency need to see a financial aid counselor. Explain the situation. Don't even say you have a job yet. It will just make things more complicated, and besides, as of Monday, you won't be working yet. (I always say that until you get that first paycheck, you don't have a job.) It's not fraud; they are supposed to count only existing income, and you don't have it yet. Besides, the itty bit you'll earn working part time won't really be enough to affect your eligibility for aid.

The financial aid counselor may be able to get you some last minute grants and loans. He or she can explain how it all works. You would not be expected to pay back any student loans until you graduate or have been out of school for a 9-month stretch, I think.

If your college has a payment plan for the tuition bill, the counselor may be able to tell you. If not, contact the student billing office and ask, if you need to.

Yes, they do. I've seen them.
