Financial aid reinstatement question?

I have a question about reinstatement on financial aid....I recently logged into my account and checked my financial aid progress and it said "unsatisfactory progress" which means I probably lost my financial aid...the problem is about a month ago, my mom got very sick and went to the ER. I dropped everything and went home. I am an only child and my mom mostly lives by herself so there was no way I could leave her and my dad passed away about 2.5 yrs ago. A friend of the family took her to the ER and did some examination...she lives 2.5 hrs from me. She did some examinations and tests...they said she had a urinary infection. I stayed with her for 3 weeks and nursed her back to health because she was too weak to walk. My mom has had medical problems ever since she was in her 30's which prevented her from working, she lives off of my survivor's benefits now. When she got better, I went back to school which was a week before finals and could'nt catch up. I had 2 "y's" and 2 "f's". The circumstances is beyond my control though and without the financial aid I cannot finish school, and my family has 0 income since my mom doesnt work and my dad is no longer alive. The problem is, I have no documentation for my case because all I did was being a care provider for my mom...with this said is there any way that I can get my financial aid reinstated? It will be very unfair for me if they took my financial aid away forever because it is beyond my control...thanks

I recommend talking to your school's financial aid counselor. He or she will probably be sympathetic to your story, and could try talking to the federal people who are in charge of disbursement. If not, you'll just have to take out loans.
