Why does everyone hate on money?

They say money can't buy happiness, but I am a realist, and I argue against this idealism. The idealism is that money cannot bring about true happiness. True happiness is different for many people. I believe money can bring financial security that can enable people the opportunity to enjoy life such as travel and nice things. You can still maintain true friendships and the ones that stick with you through thick and thin are the real tests of relationships. Money is demonized, but it can actually aid in the quest of Ultimate Happiness when invested and saved properly. I find all this "money can't buy happiness" non-sense a complete fantasy. Everyone wants money because it makes their life more secure. More money = less stress.

You really think it's happy times when you can't pay your bills, your home is being foreclosed, and you're going to be a homeless bum?

Money isn't the root of all evil. The problem is in the human heart. The human capacity to do wrong. Money is just a scapegoat.

Most of the world religions have been pounding into their followers the belief that material things are evil temptation and that morality says those with the highest "goodness" are those without material things.

Therefore, money is evil as it is probably the closest thing to pure material potential.

You got a point on that. Practically and literally, it really is correct.
but in sense of emotionally, it can be wrong. coz, just like you said, hapiness can't be bought.

Nobody hates money.. it's just that not everyone would want want a lot of money. Many people would rather choose being a poor having complete family rather than have a lot of money but all alone. ;)

More money- less stress, WRONG! More money- More stress.
Unfortunately, the human mind's function is to want and to have more and more and more. Look at our spending habits: $100,000.00 home or $1,000,000.00 home; $10,000.00 car or $100,000.00 car; etc, etc. Now, if you were to be able to share your wealth without feeling any remorse, then you would be a better person inside and out. Could you buy yourself a $100,000.00 home and buy 9 others one too and/or buy yourself a $10,000.00 car and buy 9 others one too AND NEVER, NOT ONCE let the thought of you owe enter your mind and still feel good about yourself?

Sure, if a person is handed $1 000 000, the pleasure centers of his brain light up as if he were given food, sex or drugs. But that initial rush does not translate into long-term pleasure for most people. You don鈥檛 want money. You want a meaningful life. And a life spent in the pursuit of money is anything but meaningful.

What they mean is that if you have nothing but money you likely won't be happy, but it's possible to be happy without much of it. Stressful at times, yes, but friends and family can still make it happy.

And this is coming from a business major who loves money.

Happiness is composed of many things.... love,friendship,family,fun,jokes,money, etc....
money is a part of happiness, and is not the whole thing....

People who hate on money are people who don't have money, so they don't understand money. People fear what they don't understand. Fear leads to anger, anger leads to hate.

Money is happiness for some people, not others. I know some very lonely rich people... I also know some poor people who are perfectly happy. It all depends on the individual and where they get happiness from.

yes u r right in a way.... i want give u myself like example.when i was in the school i didn t have to many things .at that age i told myself cos money are very important and i need make money to be happy.Today i have all i wanted and i can tell u cos i m not happy...everything will be perfect when i find the partner i need for my life.u know everything its fantastic when u don t have it! once u have it,u want something else...and about the" money are root of all evil".....got this name bec people do a lot off stuff for money or same of them do really EVERYTHING!!

I more or less agree with you. Greed is in the heart, not in the money.

However, you have taken that phrase out of context. Many people believe that if they had enough money, it would solve all their problems. Yes, if money is used widely it can be used to make your life secure. However, having money does not promise that your life will be happy, even if used widely. You can have all the money in the world and used it as wisely as humanly possible... and still be unhappy with your life, still have personal problems.

And sometimes, more money is more stress. I am poor and I have lived poor all my life. If I loose what little money I do have, I know how to live, I know what I need to do. I am not concerned about loosing my money because my life will not be completly different than it is now. However, in this economic crisis, all these people who are or were financially affluent, secured, even rich are the most stressed out people. These people have no clue how to live poor and its scares the crap out of them that they could be poor. I know someone who is kind of in that situation right now, facing major losses in the stock market, is about to be laid off because they company is down sizing.... And they are completly freaking out. Living a poor life is culture shock from someone who is used to an upper-middle class income. Even though they spent and invested their money more or less wisely, it doesnt change that their money is the primary source of their stress, and the culture shock they are going through is more stressful than what many people can handle.
