why do they say you cant gets a.i.ds from kissing a person, The standard tests for HIV antibodies are still blood tests (like the Western Blot and the ELISA). There is an oral test that is sometimes used as an alternative. Although it's called a saliva test, it's actually testing a fluid in the mouth called Oral Mucosal Transudate. (When you have an infection, your body makes antibodies to try to fight the infection.) i wondered the same thing, the reason i am assuming is because if you kiss somebody the saliva isn't going into your blood stream it going into your stomach, the virus has to enter the blood stream, but it's scary no matter what because what if you have a cut in your mouth? Does the saliva go into the cut, it would be able to get to your bloodstream from there, so wouldn't u get it that way? I'm not sure a doctor needs to answer this for both of us! |
