URGENT!! A question regarding... well, people. Is my reaction to this absurd? ?

I don't really know which category this falls under. Anyways, here it goes.
There's this IEP teacher (for those you that don't know, a teacher that helps kids with ADD and learning disabilities during tests in class). They have textbooks, and the aid of a teacher. I'm the smart kid in my religion class (catholic school, stupid policy), and this IEP teacher always looks at my paper and gives the answers to these kids with learning disabilities. I think that she should do the work on her own, and secondly, I believe that people with disabilities only have them because they causes them. Am I overreacting to this, I wanted to f*cking cut the teacher's nose of with my scale and make her f*cking eat it. I work my a*s off for an 85 and these f*cking *ADD* kids get a 90 with my answers and the f*cking textbook. Am I overreacting? Am I supposed to pity the ADD kids and let the teacher have my answers? My normal subject teacher does not object to the IEP teacher doing this. Thanks. Btw, 11th grade. Oh, and if you think it is wrong, what should I say to the teacher when she comes around tomorrow? Thanks. Sorry for the spellings, didn't read over, religion test tomorrow.

ar my *test* papers.

I would be pretty damn pissed about bullsh*t like that as well. But just calm yourself for a moment. Yes, you are right. No, you are not overreacting too much, and you have a right to be angry, in fact very angry, but I think you are worrying yourself just a little too much over this. First of all calm yourself. You are so enraged right now that I think you are just letting some steam blow rather than thinking of what you must do. That is a good thing, but I must warn you that it may not get you any farther than that. With how you are sounding right now, it seems as if you just want to spit in her face. It sounds like a good plan, and upon hearing this, I would also like to do so, but take some time to think of what you could do to take action and actually make a difference. Cutting that teacher's nose off and making her eat it is cool and all, but do your violent fantasies really solve anything?

I think right now you are thinking with your heart rather than mind. I would too in this case. But I suggest that you just start thinking of some realistic, more passive solutions. I would start thinking of ways to make a comment toward her about this b.s. Though I may lose my nerve when it comes time to do so, what I would really want to say to her is, with a forced smile, something like, "Oh, sorry Miss _______, are you having trouble seeing my paper? Would you like me to move it somewhere where it is more visible in your sight?" She would get the message, without a doubt.

Or maybe you could go straight to the office with this. Sure, it is putting the matter into others' hands, but it is putting it into the proper hands, and if the administration is worth a damn, they will straighten this out and leave you anonymous. Though I have come not to trust much of the office staff at my school for a variety of reasons, I would try this, or maybe better yet go to a very trusted teacher. He/she would help straighten this out for you. But if you are feeling more ballsy, I would definitely make a witty comment to the teacher. Believe me, she would lay off. I would still recommend that you tell someone of the school board as well.

I think that stuff like that is disgusting and just bull, especially when at least one student at my school who gets special treatment like that for 'ADD' is quite adequate mentally, not just adequate, maybe not a genius, but above average. Yet he is just lazy. A lot of other students like him seem to have alright intellect, maybe just average or even slightly below, but they certainly have enough to get by, but are just flat-out lazy. None of them, void a small handful, strike me as cases where 'ADD' is a detractor, or they have some sort of a learning disability, but just strike me as sorry f*cks who have no drive in reality.

The thing that boils me the most is the fact that I know many students who work quite diligently to get decent grades, yet still aren't worth a damn on tests, and seem as if they are the ones who may have learning problems or could possibly need special help. Yet they just fight through it and make the best of what they have while other lazy jerks sit on their butts and pass with no effort. If schools are going to 'help' students like this, my opinion is that they should just work more closely with them to help them get it, or that perhaps they should just have slightly reduced work sums. But none of that do-the-work-for-them crap. Wow, that ticks me off!!! And after reading this... Well, this makes me sick.

P.S. I would like to clarify that when I already hate teachers like this who do work for the students, I am just APPALLED and ENRAGED that she would not even have the integrity to do the work on her own, let alone at least truly help the kids.

What a sad piece of crap!

try to calm down.

youre in year 11. and religion class does not matter -i went to a catholic school too. relax.

its NEXT YEAR that counts with all your subjects. If the teacher does it then, i suggest you snatch back your paper and start to cause a scene in the classroom.

you tell em. its your average and you worked for it. end of story.

no your not overreacting. that same thing happened at my highschool, but there is nothing you can really do about it. try talking to the head of the school.

sorry my answer sucked but i agree with you, its not fair.
(just not about how they cause themselves to have ADD)

i think you are overreacting a little, but i understand why your mad. she should work through the right answers with them. i would let them still use my work because its not hurting you or you're grade. i would talk to my teacher at least. maybe even the IEP lady. did she ask to take your work??

thats messed up....i c y ur mad, but dnt cut offf the teachers nose, just turn ur paper over when she comes by and if she wants to still c it tell her u dont want a guilty concience(& lie like u mean it!)

I think you should talk to your regular teacher about it.

That would piss me off too. just because they have ADD doesn't mean they should get all the answers and not work.

it depends but don't blame the teachers, blame the students they fish for answers, most teachers know about the students condition and think they need more help then actually needed. I have dyslexia which is a learning disability that causes me to have an IEP and i have teacher aids coming over to me all the time when i have a question, i've also been in public and catholic schools with an IEP. Let me explain what a teacher's aid does, they help you(or a person with the IEP) understand the wording of questions and and try to explain it in an easier manner because IEP students usually have trouble learning the way the regular teacher, teach material hence the teacher aid and also IEP student usually have trouble understanding wording on the test. Also yes there are some student who abuse the use of a teacher aid by asking them questions knowing that some teacher aids might let the answer slip or try and word an answer difficulty... sometime if you guess the right answer the teacher aid will tell you whether it's right or wrong.... i guess it it could be either the teacher or the student

Well, for one thing, it's not the ADD kids' fault they have the disorder. You can't just stop having ADD if you wanna or something like that.

But I don't think the teacher should be giving them answers. She should be at the least explaining why that is the correct answer. What she really should be doing is finding out the answer herself, then giving the kids hints to how to find the answer, and helping them pay attention. She should be like a coach, not a cheating partner.
