Do u have to tell your doctor if u have aids?

If you find out you have aids, do u have to tell your doctor? Is there a law, or can you choose to not tell him/her? Also, does a doctor normally request the blood analysis and so will see the results anyway, or can you approach a laboratory on your own to make the test? Are there any laws for this procedure?

The medical community is much more better equipped to deal with patients with HIV/AIDS now...this isn't 1982...they aren't judging you.

You can't expect to get much help from your doctors or nurses if you aren't honest with them about your health and conditions...it's a trust based relationship at heart and more than that, they can't begin to decipher your concerns and treatments if they don't know all of the aspects of your health that can affect those things...blood work would be number one on their list of ways to get a handle on your health.

You can always go to a free clinic or a walk-in center or testing facility with people who don't know you and use a different name or be anonymous (they would give you a #).

As far as laws for the test, they can't draw your blood and run the test without your consent. They can't release the results to anyone except you, unless you have specifically requested that they do tell others, in writing. If your doctor orders the test, he would receive the results.

I would strongly encourage you to go to your family physician if you could. Positive & Negative results should come to you with benefit of counseling, something I would think would be easier to hear from someone you know. Good Luck

not telling your doctor you have AIDS is like not telling your mechanic there is no oil in your motor.... sort of counter productive. There are places like planned parenthood where you can get HIV testing anonymously, but most laboratories want a doctor's order to do blood work.

Yes of course you must tell your doctor, it is the right thing to do, doctors have ethics laws that will protect your privacy, also the doctor can advise you on meds etc. I am pretty sure you can't just go to a lab for a test, it has to be via a doctor.

I would think for your own health and safety you would want to tell your doctor you have AIDS.

definately should. if they have youre record though then they should be able to see it, but yeah you should always bring that up with them.
