Consider these options...could it be ethical?

Before you call for my head...this is a hypothetical question:

For those who are on death row, what would you think of offering a sort of option for life (so to speak). Give the option of going through with the sentence...or, being exposed to AIDS or "given" cancer, and using them to test for cures or treatments. If after being cured, they will be set free, or have their sentence commuted to life.

Note: I am not suggesting forcing anyone into this, but giving them this option. Do you believe it to be unethical either way, or could they provide valuable medical advancements for the rest of the world?

Randy: I'm not saying that we just take someone off the street and do this. That would be wrong. The person being being offered this option has already made a decision to be placed in that position, which is more than their victims received.

I would never say that they deserved to be free
even after taking such a huge risk with their health

Personally....If they want to be a guinea pig, I'd be for it
but again....if they've been sentenced to die.....there is no way I'd want them getting their freedom back

as for whether or not it's ethical......meh.....probably not to most people

Considering your two available options, death or medical experiments, I contend that you are in fact forcing people into it. When someone is presented with two unequal options, especially when one involves their life, its not fair and therefore unethical.
