Mums! I need your advice! :)?

I have an interview for a babysitting job next week, and i'm looking for some pointers!
I'm almost certain, there will be other people applying that will be older and have better qualifications than me, so the chance of actually getting the job is pretty slim, but you never know.

I'm 15, and have 5 younger siblings aged 12, 10, 8, 5 and 3, who i've been helping raise for years, so I have plenty of experience, but it will be my first "professional" sitting job.
It is for a couple who have a 5yo daughter, and need a babysitter for after school care, 5 days a week, 2 hours a day.
I have taken a "child studies" course at school, as well as a first aid course although I don't have my certificate, as I was away from school with glandular fever. I have passed all the informal tests though, and know how to perform CPR.

So, mum's-if you were interviewing me, what questions would you ask? What would you like me to wear? What do you look for in a babysitter? And is there anything I can do that will make me stand out?

Thanks!!

Hi, I'm a dad and you should realise that father's may be involved in the interviewing process also.

I suggest you wear very nice, tidy clothing. Nothing revealing or inappropriate. Jeans and a sweater if it's winter/or knee length skirt, blouse or smart casual if summer. Be realistic. No parent wants to hire someone who dresses poorly.

I would want to know about your experience and from what you've written here, I would be impressed. I would be looking for someone who is mature, honest and capable. Someone who wouldn't be sitting on the telephone or texting for 2 hours while they are meant to be looking after my kids and not inviting their friends over for impromptu parties.

I would ask for references from family friends if you have anyone that you have cared for their kids at any time. References from relatives. Even a letter from your parent(s).

I think by being yourself and don't be nervous - be confident and don't let the fact that you're younger bother you. It is the experience and how you get along with the child that matters. I would be introducing you to my child at the interview to see how you got along. Usually, a child is a good indicator and watching how you interact with that child shows me how capable you are.

You sound very responsible.

I hope you get the job.

Good luck.

Well. I am also 15, and I babysit a lot. :) I always try to dress comfortably but modest. The Four biggest things would be:
Maturity.
Responsibility
Dependability.
Patience
Ask questions, that always works for me.
Hope this helps! Good Luck!
If you have any more questions feel free to contact me!

Well im in the same field as you. I am a caregiver for children and have been for over 6 years. They would prob ask your experience, how comfortable are you feeding children, the have you ever questions just stuff like that. Answer honestly though bc moms know when your lying, and your watching precious angels. You looke for somone honest, trustworthy, dependable. caring, kind, warm hearted, just think of if you had kids what would you look for in someone watching your kid. You wear what your comfortable in jeans in a shirt you dont want to dress up bc your dealing with a child not working in a office. Just be you dont try to be somone else!!!!!!Hope i could help
