When should i apply & go for visa for doing MS in US after writing GRE?

Please give me suggestions for both going in August month or in January month?
Also when is fall in US.is it starts from august month or Feb month .i always get confused.Also give me all the sites where can i find all info about GRE test,universities in US,suggestions,visa,aid,etc

Fall semester usually starts in either late august or early september.

Suppose you are applying for fall 2010 semester then you should be done with your GRE by august or september of 2009 and you should send your applications by october or november 2009. A GRE score of 1200+ is good, 1300+ is very good and 1400+ is excellent. So based on your GRE score you will be selecting universities.

Why am I asking you to write the GRE exam early?

The universities get many applications and they have certain criteria to grant admission as soon as a candidate meets a criteria they grant him admission on first come first basis.

Example : If a university has 1200 GRE and 70% acads as criteria then a person who applies with 1220 score in august gets admission and may be a person who applies with 1300 wont get if he applies after they get their quota of students full. The quota depends on the funding, projects and professors avaiable to mentor.
