Are basic EMTs superior or inferior to State Tested Nurse's Aid (stna)?

I would say it is a toss up. It depends on what level EMT your asking about. As a CNA there were some things I could do (nebulizers, handing out certain meds) that I can not do as a EMT B. But as a EMT i can start IV's, draw blood, and administer D50 which I can't do as a CNA. I believe the EMT basic is a harder class that the CNA, and I am getting ready to start EMT-I in March and I know that level of certification will be more advanced than a CNA. As for superior or inferior, they both are equally important jobs!

EMT's learn basic life saving techniques while the role of the CNA is to assist the nurses with basic patient care. EMT's can build on their skills with more intense training through a technical school. in my opinion, both professions are equally important when it comes to patient care, and the demand for these professionals are very high!
