My mom caught me smoking pot?

My parents have been divorced for years now and just recently my mom has caught me smoking pot and she says this is unacceptable. As of right now I have stopped but on my dads side of the family pot is like a family thing, it has brought me far closer to my older brother and it is something we all can relate to. Before someone makes a comment about me being a stoner or something like that, I have been looking up and learning about the facts out of curiosity since i was about 8 years old (long before I started doing it), so i know whats going on with it and im not just smoking it. Since i started doing it my grades have skyrocketed and my mother says she is very proud of doing it and when i stopped for a few months my grades went down. Pot is a very important part of my life, as a friend, aid, and in a religious view in a way. My mom thinks i have only done it a couple times and doesnt know how important it is to my life and my school work. I have looked up many dilutants and things like that to try and get around spontaneous pee tests and there just isnt enough time for weed to get out of my system. Please, i want to hear some input on this, i feel slightly depressed knowing that i wont be able to do an activity that i love with my family or friends anymore.

As a fellow smoker I support you smoking. Is there anyway that you can just go to live with your father? It's a shame that you can't smoke and I feel for you hun. I recommend that you lay low for a whiles if you are being drug tested. Marijuana is a good friend and it will make you a better person but at the end of the day you can get in big trouble so just quit it for a whiles.

I 100% support you but you need to stop while you are being tested because you WILL test positive. The water trick doesn't work, you'll just feel stupid as **** when you fail and have to piss.

Why dont you just keep doing it? Tell her your situation. I do it all the time and my parents found out but they know its just a phase that I will get over and most parents have done it before too so they cant be hypocrits. I used to be on it allll the time, now its every now and then but I still do use it occasionaly.

man its cool dude ive been smokin weed for almost 2 years now. my mom found out when i was living at home and she wasn't pleased, but not really upset. just try to explain it logically. i function normally, go to college, hold a job, and hang out with friends. i stopped smoking for a week before my job test and i passed. all i did was drink a gallon or so of water a day and ran. if you gotta test in like a day you can buy this stuff called ultimate gold that masks your system, but its like 25 bucks. if i were you id just keep smokin. **** should be legalized. if anything just tell her you quit and learn to roll j's. tell her you're going to take walks or go to the park or run to the store.

If you really think that pot makes you smarter, then you are smoking way too much cuz you're still high. Dude, pot doesn't make you smarter. The only reason you might have done worse in school when you stopped is because you're addicted to it. Which means that when you quit you went through withdrawal. You need to get help.

I think you have deeper issues to deal with first.

Using pot to bring your family together isn't wrong because it's pot. It's wrong because the only way you can "come together" is by using something irrelevant to all of the things a family relationship should be built upon (care, love, friendship, etc.)

It's like people who have friends that they only hang out with when they're drinking or smoking pot; what kind of friend is that? How well do you really know them? Therefore how can you even associate with them as friends? Apply that to family and I'm just not sure how you can be comfortable with that.


Anyway, back to the subject....how old are you? Can you live with your dad? I assume you're living with your mother. In which case, it's her house and her rules. That doesn't mean you can't smoke it with your dad or friends outside of the home. Keep your mom in the dark....it's your choice and if she can't handle that, she's better off not knowing.

I was in the same boat when I was younger. I graduated high school with a 4.0 and even lettered in academics. I was on the deans list in college, I actually quit about a few years ago due to it no longer being conductive to my life or lifestyle.

What happened when my mom found out is I explained everything to her. She felt lied to a deceived but being honest is really the best way. You don't have to keep up with lies, as long as it's not causing a problem in your life and you're not actually ABUSING it then she should understand. If she has such a strict belief against it then that's her problem for not being more open minded. You sound like a smart kid, you'll be able to figure out whats right for you and the right things to say so she'll understand. Obviously I've never met your mom so this would be a bit difficult for me to tell you exactly what to say...

Bring a notepad to the conversation and write down the key points you want to hit, or when I knew I would have a difficult conversation with someone I would write out a letter to them, hand it to them in person, wait while they read it, and then answer any questions or anything they wanted to talk about.
