What kinds of things should I be doing to up my chances on being accepted by a good program at college?

Okay, I need some ideas. I don't do sports, been there done that. Not that good. I mean, I know there is a college offering a scholarship for this rare sport women are involved in, and you have to play it. I don't even think you need alot of experience..LOL I saw that on TV. You can comment on that if you want also. LOL

Should I start a non-profit? A charity? Get involved somehow in the community? I mean my cousin is into stuff like that, AIDS activism or something like that. Helping to get the statistics of the cases, maybe testing ppl-I dont know. Something to do with research.

I mean, I have NO idea. I am trying to get into a good buisiness program, but I want to be impressive. Like, I really want to do this not only for college, but for myself also. I want to give back also. But, I want to do it in a big way.

Is there something I should be focused on? I mean, should I join the NAACP or something? LOL I don't know. I want to get involved with some important stuff.

Wanting to do something for yourself as well as for admissions is the key to finding something you can commit to in a way that will impress schools, so good for you for recognizing that. Now you just have to identify it. What do you see as a problem in the world or your community that you'd like to help fix? What are your current interests, and how can you tie them into other activities? (For instance, you might be "over" playing sports yourself, but what about coaching?) No one else can answer those questions for you, but the answers are out there. Just give it some thought. Good luck.

You should try to take some honors or AP classes. Another thing you can do is national examinations... like the National Spanish Exam. Um... getting good scores on SAT and ACT will help out a lot, but keep in mind schools look at transcripts as well. Clubs are great! Expecially Honors Society.

first of all, for a good business program make sure that you are taking advanced math courses and stats...
but for extra stuff, anything that you can put on your resume is awesome! Get involved in charity/community/church etc. I don't think you can start a non-profit that easily, but perhaps do a plan for a charity and make a summary and plan and attach it to your resume. definitely intern!!! Get connections and create impressive relationships with people!!!! it helps big time!
