When you go and visit your doctor/GP and ask to be tested for stds/aids/hiv etc does that include them testing for herpes?

Usually not. In my experience, you have to specifically request a herpes tests.

I went to my family doctor to have all my testing done. They tested for everything-- I didn't even have to ask for the herpes test, it was all included. It depends. Make sure you make a list out of all the thing you want to get tested for and give it to the phlebotomist/doctor.

It can take weeks or months for STDs to show up on testing. More than 98% of people who have HIV would test positive within 3 months. In very rare cases, it could take up to 6 months for someone to test positive for HIV. (Although it could take years for symptoms of HIV to appear, it would not take more than 6 months for someone to test positive.)

Herpes is usually not included on the routine std test. You should ask if herpes is included and if it's not ask them to add it on if your worried that you could have herpes.
