What does leukemia do to a 9 month old cat with Feline aids?

I took my cat Tank, to the vet this morning to get neutered and shots. They did the leukemia/ AIDS test on him and he came back positive for both. :'0( He is only 9 months old. I got him through a friend who adopted him from the local animal shelter. She have adopted him but neglected him, so I took him in. She led me to believe he had all the updated shots, etc. But obviously not. The doctor called me and told me that it seemed he has had AIDS and leukemia since birth.
Now for the question part. The doctor had told me with his surgery, that it will activate his diseases, and he will be real sick. He said that Tank will get real sick later on, and eventually die. I didn't get a real good explanation. I wonder what happens when you have both and roughly how long he will live? Does leukemia make FIV worse? Or other way around? Not sure what hurts them the most. And I don't want to be just waiting til he dies. What is the best thing to do for my kitty?
Also, I have a 4 week old kitten, that I have taken. He stays in my room at all times, and my other cat, Tank, does not go in my room at all. He stays out in every other part of my home. And i always keep the door shut. Is ther any risk of the baby kitten contracting an of these viruses that Tank has? And if so, then what precautions should I take to insure that the little one doesnt get them?
One more thing on top of that. I am about 4 and a half months pregnant. I cant contract any of the viruses Tank has? Can I? Cause I love my kitties, but I do not want my baby to miscarry due to these viruses. Thank you for your help. :0)

darling the kindest thin you can do for little Tank is to have him put to sleep rather than let him suffer, which he will. Poor little sweetheart, it won't be long before he starts to suffer. Both diseases are equally bad, but to have both is unimaginable!

As for your other kitten, from what you have said I am sure he/she will be OK but it would be safer to get blood tests done to be sure.

Cats cannot get aids from humans and humans cannot get aids from cats. Leukaemia isn't contagious.

I am so sorry to be advising you to have Tank put to sleep, I am the last person on this earth to ever want that to happen to an animal, but if there will be suffering then I just feel it is the kindest act of love you could ever show him.

Lots of love.
