College students or former college students: What do you wish you had known your first year at college?

I'm ending my freshman year now and some advice I would give is:
1. Budget your money! I had a ton of money my 1st semester from financial aid, and I never took a work study job because I thought I didn't need to. By the end of my 1st semester, all my money was gone. I was clubbing and just freely spending money without thinking!
2. Don't miss class unless its a class that you really don't need to go to. I had 2 classes that were mostly online so I didn't need to go, but most classes aren't like that! And NEVER miss a test!
3. Use ratemyprofessors.com to pick your classes, I always make sure the professor is good before I choose a class. It helps a lot!
4. Drinking and other things are fun, but don't let them interfere with school. Has anyone tried to tell you "most people at college dont drink, only a few people do and they consume most of the alcohol?" thats a lie. at least at my college.

Hello McMuffy Love this Q, just what I needed 30 years ago. College frosh year was @ small university in small city. Lived w/ family, comuted. Problem was comuting time & traffic. Was driving less than year & had "new driver" problems. Spent mucho bucks on older cars. Have work & good class - gut, tough, required / gym. Good advice from faculty adviser -- what is good for you. Firm career plan -- decide major. Save money, Use public transport, safe parking place. Study routine down. Limit drink 1/ day; friends r trust worthy. If budget or study skills need work, work on 'em - time spent is worth it.Be adult, Rely On Your Self & dont mess up.

you don't need to go to class to do well in your exams..that's what study week and photocopiers are for!!

always budget your money...why get a dear bottle of wine when you can get schooner for less than 4euro ;)

don't party so much and study more, I had some serious consequences because of that!

I would think the blood test was wrong. Pregnancy test only pick up Hcg and you only make that when you are in fact pregnant. Having so many false positives is very unlikely. I would get another bl...
