What are the pros and cons of going University vs. Community collage..?

I am debating on weather I should go to a state university which is 45 minutes away from my house or going to a community collage that is 10 minutes away from my house. Either way I have already decided I am still going to be living at home.

I am torn though because I have never really had a dream of going away to a big collage, I always just though that I would go to community collage. But at the same time i want to go to a collage where If I get in I get in I get in because my grades/test scores were good enough not just because they let anyone who puts in an application in. Also I probably want to get a degree in art or something. I also probably want to get a 4 year degree. Oh I also know that my family dosen't have a lot of money so wherever I go I am going to have to hope that I get financial aid/scholarships to pay for 90% of my collage....

I mean what are the pros and cons of both?? Thanks!!

College* sorry for the typo

Community colleges ar good for the first 2 years of school. It is cheaper and classes are offered alot more. Also, most people can still live at home and work full time / part time jobs.

HOWEVER,

University colleges are VERY worth the money, the distance, the education, the time, ETC. You learn so much being away from home and on campus. It is a whole new world and a great learning experience. I lived on campus for the first 2 years and now live in an apartment right outside of campus. I have grown to be independent and feel like my college is home. the people you meet become so close and must community colleges are just like highschool, only bigger.

I would NEVER choose a community college over a university EVER. Even though it is more expensive and further away, it is extremely worth it!!!

LASTLY, university professors and more qualified and more professional where community college teachers arent.

I hope that helped!

Go to university, the distance should never have been an issue in the first place.......University degree much more acceptable in the working world than a community college degree especially when youre looking for jobs. If two persons went for an interview, both had no experience in the job area, one has a Community college degree/diploma and the other a University degree (highly accredited), who do you suppose will have the advantage.

That my friend should be how you look at it.

this is my last semester at the community college in my hometown and i absolutely loved it. i'm transfering to a university about an hr. from where i live and i will also be commuting.there is no reason you shouldn't go to a community college for ur first 2 yrs. it's cheaper and my teachers were great. i'd rather stay here than transfer to a college w/over 9,000 ppl. ur first 2 yrs. of college, u'll be taking the basics like english and math anyways. trust me, go to a community college 1st.. and then transfer.

Pros of University:
You can bet a better education
It prepares you for life after school

Pros of Community College:
Usually much less expensive
Have the opportunity to transfer to Universities with great reputations after 2 years
