Does this sound like gestational diabetes?

I noticed that after I drink something sugary, like kool aid or just now, Sunny D, I feel sort of dizzy. I feel better if I lay down or drink some water and it never lasts longer then 20 minutes. I'm 26 weeks pregnant and I've felt like this since about week 20. I mentioned the dizziness to my doctor and they took my blood pressure and it was normal. They wrote something to have my glucose test done. Does it sound like gestational diabetes? I'm only 21, there is no history of diabetes in the family, and I'm not really over weight. (I suppose I am if you add the baby weight, but I wasn't over weight before getting pregnant.)

If it does sound like this, what can I do to not feel this way? I don't eat white bread, only wheat and I don't munch on potatoes often.. What else should I avoid until I know?

Thanks for reading.

Please help. :/

just go get ur GB test done, you're doctor already assigned it to you. the glucose test is your GB test.

im not sure how it goes for you, but my OB gave me a sheet and wrote "1hr glucose" on the comment section. i went to a lab (the labs you go to to get your blood tested), gave her my paper and she gave me this bottle. i had to finish the whole thing within 5 mins, it tasted like orange soda. an hour later she drew blood from me and that was it!

you couldnt eat anything before the test, i was told not to drink anything not even water during the test.

my results came back, my blood sugar was 160. it's kind of high so now i have to go back and get a 3hr glucose test done. ))):

It doesn't really sound like GD. Usually you get nausea when you consume too much sugar. But just in case it is, limit your sugar and carb intake. Carbs become sugar in the blood. Try to stay away from juice and believe it or not too much fruit can have the same affect. Just so you know carbs include rice, pasta, bread, corn and potatoes. And when you do eat carbs make sure you have a protein with it.

Hope this helps.

You should get your glucose screen done soon then, if you're in doubt. Make an appt. w/your OB/GYN and have them check you out for GD. It's best to treat it sooner rather than later. You will need to be treated for it, so while you cutting back on sugars will help some, you need proper medical attention.
