Can someone answer a question about MRSA?

I'm 27 weeks pregnant. Me and my boyfriend went over to his mom's house today and she has MRSA and has had it for a long time. We were only there for about 10 minutes, but she gave us a bunch of baby clothes for the baby. I had to get blood drawn today for a glucose test and had it done from both arms. I had a band aid on both of them, but she wanted to take a picture and we did. She put her arm around me and it was the arm that has had MRSA on it. She was wearing a shirt, so the infected skin didn't touch me and I didn't see it. (It's up by her arm pit.)

I know MRSA is very contagious, and I'm really scared to even be around her. Is it likely that I caught it from her? Should I stay away from her for the rest of my pregnancy and keep the baby away from her once he's born? I don't know what to do without hurting her feelings. She's really excited about my pregnancy, but MRSA is resistent against penicillian. Thanks.

Wow, everyone is too busy answering the 1,000,000 questions about swine flu. lol

you could do what spider suggests if you have the need.
in my opinion, and i was a hospital pharmacist, then i wouldn't worry my pretty little head about it.
MRSA is resistant to almost all antibiotics.
continue to be vigilant when visiting her to restrict any exposure.after the baby is born i would be sure to let the pediatrician know before going over there or exposing the tyke.

i'm not a doctor or anything but my mother is a nurse and she says to go and talk to your practice nurse for reassurance. he/she should be able to tell you what you need to know. congratulations with being pregnant and i hope it all goes well for you.

lol, i only stumbled across this question after WADING through MILLIONS of swine flu questions.

i expect you'll be fine my dear, unless the bandaid was not very tightly stuck on and you vigourously rubbed your boyfriends mother against it lol

good luck with your baby :)
