Follow-up on my other question: How can people be so cruel?

This was my other question:
She comes in my yard everyday. I started feeding her and she eats like she hasn't eaten in a week. While she was eating, I could see in her ears and it's full of ear mites. I don't know if she has fleas. Anyways, I called a rescue today and the girl told me she would help me if I wanted to keep her. I see her at all hours of the day and night. Even saw her at 3:00 in the morning. I think she has been abandoned or her owner doesn't take good care of her so this week, I'm taking her to the vet and I'm keeping her. It breaks my heart to see her like that. She deserves a better life. What would you do?

I have her here and I am DEFINITELY keeping her. I took her to the vet this morning for a full check-up. I thought she had ear mites but her ears were only dirty. No fleas. The vet says she is in perfect health. He first tested her for feline leukemia/aids and tested negative so he gave her her shots. I took some revolution for her and my 3 other cats just in case. I asked him to cut her nails and SURPRISE, she is DE-CLAWED!! How could the people who owned her could have left her outside with nothing to protect herself. If ever somebody sees her in my windows and comes knocking at my door wanting her back, over my dead body!! The vet also checked for a microchip, she had none! She is MY cat now! She will be spoiled and kept inside. The people who left her outside disgust me!

I will add a picture shortly.

I think you are an absolutely wonderful person and you know what got me misty eyed? Kitty knew that if she reach out to you, you will take her in and will not let anything happen to her! Of all the people in your neighborhood, she CHOOSE you!

There are all sorts of twisted people and there always will be. What makes us different from them is that as we receive unconditional love, no matter from creature how small, we give back, also unconditionally. There is no need to get upset for those people, the time will come when they too, will feel the pain and suffering.

Your lovely cat has found a home at last. One that is warm and full of love. Give me some kisses for her and headbonks from my cats too. You made my Monday bright and sunny!

People are mean, pure and simple. To declaw the cat is bad enough, but to throw her outside with no means of defense is downright evil. She is a gorgeous kitty and It's a good thing that she found you!

kudos to you for taking the cat in. The cat certainly deserves the life you are about to give it. many Kitty cat kisses to you.

OMG what a beautiful cat. Oh course I would do what you did. Congrats on your new addition.
Anyone that would declaw a outside cat does not deserve it.

I am honestly surprised that she is still alive. A cat, with no claws, outside. How cruel could someone be? I am so glad she has found a loving home with you.

I'm glad to hear that you took this girl in to be a member of your family. she now has her forever home

She IS a beautiful cat, and I APPLAUD you for taking her in and getting her examined so quickly.

It's a shame that she was declawed, good that she was spayed, but now, she has a wonderful home with you!

Since she's not really skinny, it's POSSIBLE that she wasn't abandoned....but, maybe her previous owners were moving and she "escaped" and hid, being frightened being outside for the first time....and they couldn't find her. They may have looked and looked, but had to leave her behind ( for whatever reason ). So, since you really don't KNOW her previous circumstance, don't be too quick to "judge".

SHE IS YOURS NOW.......and you'll take good care of her. Hopefully, the people who "lost" her, won't come looking for her.....or see her picture on HERE !!

Good luck and enjoy your new "daughter".......

I know, its sick and twisted to declaw a cat :( It makes me SO sad to read these questions, especially the people with the nasty "i don't care what anyone tells me I am going to do it anyway" attitude. But every now and then, you reach someone. Someone who didn't know the hazards, the dangers, how much it hurts a cat, and they reconsider and do not declaw their cat. And that's the only thing that keeps me going with these questions. We had one the other day (PK will remember this) where she just didn't know any better, and thanks to the members of YA she learned and changed her mind. Its the people who KNOW better and still do it that make me sick. I feel sorry for those that don't know, I think they have the greatest heartache when they find out.

I hope every day that people read these threads, do some research, and no longer declaw their cats.

(PS- is that your foot? lol)

Are you so sure she's abandoned? She sounds like an indoor cat who got outside and disappeared. My two cats are both strictly indoor cats, but they will occasionally bolt for the door. I honestly don't know if they'd find their way home if they ever got out and took off.

I know how you feel. When I found Chester Nester on the streets he was declawed as well.
Honestly, I didn't feel bad if his previous family missed him...the fact that they got him declawed when there are so many other alternatives is horrible in my opinion. Not to mention that they let him be defenseless outside...I was just grateful that we found each other before something bad could of happened to him.

By the way, thank you so much for being a loving and caring person. It was a great act you did by taking her in and I hope you both have a wonderful life together. She's lucky to have someone as great as you looking out for her.

ahhhh she is so cute. its a good thing you have done. people who declaw cats should face prosecution it is cruel. as you said how is she to defend herself or feed. as she is spayed i would say she has come from a home, i would also say that as she has been declawed it is very likely she was an indoor cat, and they didnt want her clawing the furniture - tough thats what goes with kitty love. enjoy her company. 鈾?/div>

Edit: Are you sure that she's abandoned and not just a lost indoor cat? Have you checked Craigslist, posted "Found cat" signs, etc?

Just because she's declawed doesn't mean her last owners declawed her. She could've been rescued from the people who did that.

congratulations!

Hungry cat without a chip, I'd say that makes it fine to keep her. If she did run away then good for her. But somehow I doubt that's the way it happened. If they thought it was fine to declaw her then they probably thought it was fine to put her out.
The poor little thing is adorable. I'm so glad she found herself a good home.

I hope the introductions go well. :)

It is horrible what happened to the cat, and if the owners abondened her they're terrible. But you don't know that. Maybe the cat slinked through the door when someone was going in or out of the house. I think people who assume everything are missing alot of whats really going on.
