PPD test is 'positive'.. or is it?

I took a PPD test (test for tuberculosis) and the result came back as positive with a 1 mm by 1 mm raise. Is that something to be concerned about? The doctor, someone whom I've never used before suggested that I get 9 months preventative treatment. The research that I've done has shown me that I have nothing to worry about at all. Even if I did have AIDS (which I don't) I would need a 5 mm raise to be considered positive. I'm completely healthy and this doctor is freaking out about a 1 mm raise. Is there any medical authority that considers a 1 mm raise positive?

No, if it was interpreted correctly, it doesn't sound like it was positive. The best place to check would be your local health department. They may be able to interpret your records, or, if there was a chance it was performed incorrectly, to repeat the test.
