She has aids, what should I do?

I found out my girlfriend has aids, I got tested and I'm negative. I love her and I still want to make it work, is it possible to be with her, do "it" the safe way and not catch it? What should I do? I have feelings for her but I dont want to catch it.

First, regarding your own health; you have tested negative, which is great, but you need to do the test again in 6 months. This is because it might take that long for the antibodies to show up in your system (the HIV test is not for the virus itself, but for the antibodies).

The truth is that female-to-male is a relatively low percentage way of contracting the virus, but it is possible. Even with condoms, you should avoid sex during her menstration period, as the presence of blood significantly increases the risks.

It will be a really hard thing to make the relationship work. For starters, who knows what her state of mind will be as she progresses through stages of denial, bargaining and acceptance. Also, will it start to bother you as you wonder how she contracted the virus? And the fact that having a sexual relationship, regardless of all the precautions you take, will possibly expose you to infection. That is a fact that will never change.

You might not want to break up with her in this difficult moment of her life, but I think it will be very hard for you to make it work. Be there for her, be supportive, do not judge.criticize her, but my advice is not to make any promises that you are not able to follow through on.

This is not unusual. You chances of getting HIV/AIDS from her are lower then a female being infected by a male. Wat you need to do is use a condom. If you end up in a long there relationship you can have children and be a "normal" family.

What she needs to do is be sure she is taking/or gets on medication, when she is at the point that her viral load is undetectable you could have children. You should work very carefully with a HIV specialist to be sure of the safest way for your health.

I have been in a relationship with someone HIV+ for 12 years, I remain negative. I applaud you for for asking questions, and still looking at the options. My life has never been better!

First, she probably does not have AIDS, or she would be on medication. She most likely is HIV +. It's primarily based on your T-Cell count when a person transitions from HIV to AIDS. Having AIDS means that your immune system is finally shutting down and you are prone to infections/diseases/cancers/etc.

Second, just because you tested negative, does not mean that you are in the clear yet. It takes about 6 months to know 100% that you did not become infected. Your recent test shows that you were not negative 6 months ago. It does not show anything that has happened since November 26.

Third, you can always try to be safe and be sexual, but no matter how many contraceptives you use, there will always be a risk. If you take a lot of precautions, then there will be less of a chance, but understand, there will always be a chance so long as you're sexual.

Stay educated. Do a lot of research online and keep your guard up. Love is a powerful emotion. Don't let it cloud good judgement. There are 1000 ways to get off. Stay clear of the unsafe ways.

You should attend an Infectious Disease appointment with her to address the questions. There is always a risk, but minimizing it by using protection is REQUIRED. I would seek guidance from her MD and then double check it with your physician. You need to get another test in next six months as well.

I wont be taking the word of strangers when it comes to life or death.

I'd make an appt with my family dr and discuss this with him / her

ok but how on earth did she get aids and you not,

has she been cheating on you

Do you really want to take the risk??? I sure as hell wouldn't..
