Needle stick accident help!!?

I was disposing of a needle while taking blood from a fellow student and the cap came off and i stuk myself. I had blood tests the same day, and 2 days after it had another AIDS test. This all happened on the second and the fourth of June. Today, the doctors receptonist calls and tells me the doctor wants to see me. She said she doesn't know how to read the test but said he would have called me sooner if anything. She made my appointment for June 29th.

If something was wrong, do you think they would have rushed me in? I called back and she said the doctor can call me tomorrow. I am freaking out!!

Yes, I ran to her as soon as it happened and asked and she said "Of course not!" but there are also ppl walking around with some diseases and not knowing they have it. If everything came back ok, i dont see why he would call me. I thought they only called with bad news.

If the other student doesn't have HIV, you shouldn't worry about transmission. Did you ask the other student if if he/she has ANY blood borne diseases?

There's no AIDS test. There's HIV testing. You can't "catch" AIDS. It's a condition and a potential consequence of being HIV infected. I wouldn't worry about having HIV at this point if I were you. You had the HIV testing much too soon anyway to be reliable or conclusive. Of course the doctor will want to see you for routine follow up on the labs. Do you truly believe that if there were anything serious going on the appointment would have been scheduled for 12 days from now? It may well be that besides following up on your lab results, your doctor may wish to talk about something completely unrelated to HIV that came up.

Relax, you dont know anything yet. Odds are the test came back inconclusive and they need you to take another test. Dont jump to any conclusions yet. HIV usually takes from a few days to a few weeks to be able to show up in a blood test anyway. So relax, and breathe. Odds are you dont have the virus.

Most likely the student didn't even have HIV or hepatitis or anything; so don't panic.
Yes, if something is wrong they generally want to see you soon.
Be more careful next time.

ya if there was something wrong they would rush you in immediately or they would at least have told you by now
