What about Judge Sotomayor?

First, let me tell you a true story. I went to a specialist (I won't say what for.) He was a white male doctor. When he had taken on too many patients, he had all his patients given out to other doctors in the same hospital. I was now going to another white male doctor. He was not a good doctor. Instead of examining me, he would have a conversation. After about a year, his receptionist called me to say that I'd be getting a new doctor. (That doctor probably received too many complaints. My current doctor is a female Indian doctor (from India, not Native American.) She's a good doctor who knows what she's doing.
Now to the judge. There's a case in which 19 white and one Latino in the New Haven Fire Department had their advancement exams tossed out because of the lack of minorities who passed the test. If I was in a fire, I would want the most qualified to come to my rescue. (If the minorities got the highest scores, I'd ant them to come to my aid. What's your opinion.?

A racist is a racist plain and simple, this lady who obama picked made a racial comment and if a white person had said the same thing about the blacks the media would not back away from it. This whole incident goes to show that there are double standard between races it is okay for blacks and hispanics to make racial comments but stone the white person if he or she makes any kind (big or small) of racial remarks. Obama is a racist himself that is why he has not removed her.

It was the city of New Haven, not Judge Sotomayor that threw out the test results because they thought it could have been biased. The panel of judges, including Sotomayor, upheld the city's right to do that.

By the way--how well someone does on a written test does not necessarily predict how good a job they will do as a firefighter, doctor, lawyer, etc.

The judge ruled in favor of the city (and their right to re-test), not against the firefighters. Which is obvious to anyone who actually read the data itself.

Not that I agree with the situation (the city shouldn't have thrown out the original tests), but I fail to see how Sotomayor can be held at fault for doing her job.

My opinion is my life experiences as a white male make me better suited to walk through airports without injuring myself than a female latina

I think people should be judged not by the color of their skin but by the content of their character.

The rest of the court won`t agre with her.

my answer is that no one knows what you are asking about, or how to evaluate your question. I don't know if you want to know about medical care in India, Sotomayor's ankle, or the legal case in New Haven.

if it comes back to the New Haven case.. I am not going to make assumptions. Legal cases by their very nature involve arguments from both sides, and LEGAL RULINGS. I have seen cases where a judge is forced to rule what seems illogical to me (on the surface).. but when someone looks at the legal requirements, it can go either way. In other words.. I might agree that the test should not have been tossed.. but the LAW might have required it. In a case like this one.. it is exactly why it winds up being heard by the Supreme court, to define which law(s) are applicable.
Do I consider it to be proof of Sotomayor being incapable? No, not at all. Because I don't have enough info to make that conclusion.
