Moral question on laser eye surgery.?

I'm a vegan and am actively against animal testing. I've worn contact lenses for 5 years and hate wearing glasses (i don't really know why, i think they can look very nice on other people) yet when i found out contact lenses and most solutions are tested on animals, I immediately stopped using them. However, I've always been desperate to get laser eye surgery as soon as I was old enough (6 months) though it recently occured to me this procedure will have been tested on animals to ensure its safety. I'm still completely opposed to animal testing even for medical reasons, though i have been assured no such tests continue now its safety has been assured. By getting the procedure, I would not be harming any animals and I can't take back the suffering they indured in the process' creation. I would rather the process had not been created as I'd much rather animals were saved discomfort than humans could see without aid, but now that it does exist and is no longer involved with animal cruelty, would it be a compromise of my ethics to get my vision fixed?

There is a reoccurring problem in medicine, and even though it has gotten better, testing on animals has always been and will almost certainly always be; human beings just aren't into being tested with things that there is no known effects of, and since animals can't protest too much, they are the choice. I don't agree with animal testing, but I understand why it happens. Plastic in glasses, metal in them, and even the glass if you can find glass lenses, all have effects on animals. Contacts have the same problems, as does the laser surgery. But, here's the thing; you are going to have to compromise your ethics somewhere to correct your vision. Only you know in your heart if you can live with your choice, but once you're really ready for something, you'll do what you feel is right. I wear glasses because I can't get surgery. I waited too long and my astigmatism is too far gone to be eligible.

Okay well the plastics in the glasses lenses and frames were tested on animals first as well. So you can't wear contacts, and you can't wear glasses. You say you can't get laser surgery either. So you'll just have to not see. You can't wear any synthetic clothing or really any clothing with anything other than vegetable dies in it. I hope you are eating only organic vegetables and foods because if it isn't 100% organic, then there have been fertilizers and pesticides used to produce it. So if you avoid everything that has ever harmed any animal anywhere along the way you are going to be in a bad way. What I'm saying is you have to either be all out there or you have to be rational. And what is okay with your ethics is something you'll have to decide. But don't make allowances in one case and not another or you are a hypocrite. In order to be 100% animal free you will pretty much have to go back to the stone age. Even toilet paper has components that have been tested on animals.
