Smoking weed while pregnant?

well my friend and i are both 9 months pregnant and someone has called children's aid on her about bad living conditions(not true) and that she smokes weed. i ask her when she smoked weed last and it was about a week ago. now she freaking out not knowing what to do. as a friend i am not at all happy she chose to smoke weed but she has stopped but is still scared there gonna take her little one away when hes born. i don't know what to tell her to ease her mind. will they take her baby away? will they test her? please i don't want to hear all the people telling me she shouldn't have smoked weed.... i already know that

Yes they will test when the baby is born, especially now that they know she has smoked weed during pregnancy. I work in social services and have seen this happen a million times. If the baby is positive for illegal drugs then more than likely it will be placed in foster care until a reunification plan is in place, which will probably include mandatory drug counseling/rehab for your friend and other services to ensure she is a sound parent before she can regain custody of her baby.

They usually try to place the infant with family if they are available and willing (and not on drugs).

Unfortunately and depending on how much she smoked, the marijuana will stay in her system for approx 30 days.

they won't take her child if she agrees to go to a drug counseling class. though i don't agree with smoking ANYTHING while pregnant marijuana has only been shown to have the same effects as cigarettes
ANd no twizted- they do not always test baby when it's born. only if it' suspected drug use and sometime it has to go through the courts. they have never tested any baby i have ever been around but i have never been around a woman that was suspected of drug use

yeah they can test her..and yeah they can take action against her if she has weed in her system, your right she should not have smoked weed thats horrible..she should have thought more about what she was doing. because **** happens...tell her not to smoke anymore, and she will probably be able to keep her baby. but if she keeps acting out and acting/doing stupid things..then its her fault and theres nothing you can do about it, even though its sad.

The baby deserves better. And it takes a sick, idiotic person to subject their child to drugs...
and if she didn't want her child taken away, she shouldn't have been subjecting the kid to drugs.

next time i hope she thinks twice before doing something so stupid.

most likely yes i had a friend who was just breast feeding her baby and she went out and smoked weed and drank then came home and feed the baby and she lost her baby for that

Bahahaha, Thats SO Stubid! Hahahaha , Well The Kid Will Have Birth Defects , And Probly A P.A.V for sure :P I feel sorry for her child

not sure where you live, but they will investigate her, and her life style and they may take the baby from her if they find that her life style is not sufficient to raise a child

seriously? omfg...how stupid can people really get???? better hope that they don't test the baby for THC and other drugs or ya...your stupid friend will be saying "byebye" to her baby.

you are a good friend to be concerned...but im sorry if children's aid or child protective services has been called your dumb@$$ friend is going to probably get her unborn baby taken away and any other children too.

i wish i could help you in finding the words to help ease her mind. but if you really care about her don't be an enabler by trying to make her feel better. if i were you i would tell your bestie that you are very disappointed in her and what she's doing could very possibly affect the rest of her life, the rest of her kid's lives and the development of her kid. THC stays in the blood for a while...she's screwed.

They won't care about how her tests turn out. They will care how the test on the baby comes out. If the baby has a positive test with it,then they have the right to open a case/remove the baby from the home. That's how they usually do it,they'll test the baby. They always test the baby for drugs when it's born,so I don't know what she was thinking doing it anyways. This with the CPS would have been opened had the baby tested positive irregardless maybe. I'm not saying she should/shouldn't have,not saying it's oh so bad or whatever,just saying the case and how they do things. It's her choice. I know that I've known people that have done it,but they've always stopped around the 7th month,because it takes longer to come out of baby's system.
