Should i send a thank you letter after an interview?

I just had an interview for a position in the production for a hearing aid company.
after a brief interview he let me take a test, and i had my hands on the job i would be doing if got hired (work under microscope, etc), which i nailed. the trainer/tester was surprised that it was the first time i did that kind of work.
When i was gonna leave, he said that he would talk to the trainer about my test result and would call me.
The interviewer/HR and the trainer are different people.
Now I want to send a thank you letter
1. If i sent it, would it give me a better chance for getting the job, or would it look like i'm sucking up?
2. When should i send it? today? tomorrow?
3. should i send it in a card or formal letter?
4. should i mention the hands on experience?

Hi! I have interview quite a few people. I think the ones that stand out are the people that make an extra effort. So, in answer to your question, yes, I think it would be nice to send a thank you letter. It should be sent today, rather formal sounding, and you can send it to the trainer (I would think that is the actual person that will hire you). I would just quickly reiterate your experience and how much you appreciated meeting them and look forward to talking to them again soon. Short and simple. And make sure you give details on how to reach you again. Good luck!

Send it as soon as possible, in a formal tone addressed to the person you interviewed with. Genuinely thank them for their time and interest in you. It is not considered sucking up but good etiquette; sometimes it can help you get the job though!

no never do Business that way. if they like you they will be in it touch. how ever if ya smooth enough find a way to,,, gee bump it to the instructor and say hi and what ever else you can con him with .oh what a nice surprise.

Are you kidding me!

Do not send a thank you letter, I am serious.

Thats sooooooooooooooooooo lame OMG!

If they want you they'll take you, end of story.
