38k income, do I qualify for Tuition Assistance Program (TAP) ?

I'm going to start college this fall. I'm 24 and I make over 38k a year. I just received a letter saying that I can take the ATB test to find out if I'm eligible to get financial aid from the Tuition Assistance Program. I read on a website that if you're independent (which I am) and don't have any dependents (which I don't) your income must be $10K or less a year.

Anybody has more info on this because I don't really wan to take this test if I'm not even eligible in the first place.

Well, take it because you never know, but I think you do not qualify. Even though your income is not that high, you must be like really poor to qualify. My brother, who recently applied, made the same as you and didn't qualify. You can make more than 10k and still qualify. That was my case, but I had a dependent. I know, it sucks.
