Why do I have a high white blood cell count?

I'm currently 59 yrs. old. My white blood count cell is always 18,000 plus. My mom's was always like that my brothers is like this, and both my daughters, one 37 yrs. old and 26 yrs. old. Were tested for leukemia, and we don't have that. None of us have aids. What is strange is that the only thing that's affecting us about this disorder is that normal doses of medicines don't affect us like it would in a normal person. Also, I never get sick, I haven't had a cold sense I was a child, no sore throat sense a child. What could this be? I'm curious to know if anyone has answers.

A white cell count of 18K, while high, is not so high as to worry about it. As long as the cells look normal, and they are functional, it's just the way you are.

well I'm assuming 18000 is high since that's what you said....you probably have an infection that is almost dormant (meaning causes no noticible symptoms) or you just have a very good immune system....I'm assuming you also have arthritis since this is caused by the immune system attacking the body's cells I also assume you aren't taking medication for it which is the reason your immune system isn't trashed. If this really worries you ask your doctor maybe go see an immunologist
