Help! Something is wrong with my cat!?

OKAY! My cat just vomited some black or dark blue stuff up. WHAT DOES THIS MEAN!? For the past 3 months my 2 year old female cats condition has been deteriorating. She has lost a massive amount of weight, refuses to eat, still drinks but not much, has a fever, is dehydrated, and hardly has the energy to stand and walk around anymore. We have been to the vet's office numerous times and they have only given her antibiotics and fluids.We had her tested for AIDs and Lukemia, which turned up negative. A full blood screen showed nothing but an increase in white blood cells, which could mean infection, but they have no idea where. She is withering away.. She couldnt have puked up food so what is this?

I would do the tests for FIP (Feline Infectious Peritonitis) (not contageous, just infectious, although many do not believe this who haven't looked it up.

I just hate to say this, but if it's not kidney disease, diabetes, leukemia, a high white-blood count (leukocytes) can be indicative of FIP which is ultimately a fatal disease.

I highly, highly recommend learning to do the fluids yourself so (1) she can get them every day and you don't go broke; and (2) have your vet authorize your buying them on line (I suggest Fosters and Smith website) - if you buy 4 or more bags, shipping is free (for heavy 1000mg bags of fluids). You can buy a drip-set from your Vet or order on line as well.

I also highly, highly recommend getting a 10mg or more feeding syringe, mixing cat food with warm water until it's a soupy consistency and force-feed your cat at least 3x/day and keep track of her weight. She needs the food and extra fluids. I'm guessing you're already doing this, but in case not, it would be so, well - you know, to see her starve and dehydrate to death. It would be a painful way to go.

I truly hope it's not FIP. I'd go to a Vet Emergency clinic where they can have the results of any tests in a matter of 10-20 minutes.

You may want to test her for Feline Leukemia again.

Those symptoms sound like heartworm... but the only thing is it's very rare for a cat to get heartworm.

Also, you may want a second opinion from a different Vet. Was she given a broad spectrum anti-biotic?

I'm not sure what she may have vomitted, I would call your Vet and have them paged to give you a call.

Digested blood(from bleeding in stomach) is black.

I certainly hope the cat has not been into anti-freeze. This rings a bell of sorts of a cat that had those symptoms.

I'd have another vet check her out. Look for a cat specialist. Your vet should be able to recommend one.

I cannot fathom why you think you'll find the answers here. Get to your vet already!
