Is it unreasonable to ask your boyfriend to get an AIDS test before you have sex with him for the 1st time?

I ask that my boyfriend get tested for AIDS and other STDS. My friends laughed at me and said that it was a sure way to scare him off. But I need to be safe. I do plan to have protected sex with him. I just want to make sure he is clean. It's not like he would be the only one. I would go and get tested too, just to be fair.

It's logical and not unfair. Safe sex is the best sex 'cause you don't have that voice in the back of your head going, "I am catching something right now. Mid-**** I am catching a disease. Something is telling me this. I feel like Nostradamus right now 'cause I predict that something very itchy will appear on my special region in the future."

Go get tested together and be with him. Men lie sometimes so it's good to go at the same time and hear the results with him.

If it scares him off then...well there's a reason!

That isn't unreasonable at all. I had my boyfriend get tested. I was a virgin, so I didn't need to get tested myself but I would have. Sounds like he might be worried he'll test positive for something.

i suppose you guys can talk about it yourselves, but it is a sensible thing to do. Neither of you will have STD's if its your first time EVER remember :) Have fun ;D
