I have a sluggish digestive system & I'm not overweight either, 5'4 140 lbs, what all things can aid digestion

So far I've tried eating yogurt daily (one serving of Dannon DanActive), drinking lots of water daily, I eat whole grain cereals, breads, and even the pastas I eat are whole grain, I sometimes will add Benefiber to whatever I'm eating or drinking but I don't do the Benefiber on a daily basis becuz sometimes I just forget to do it so I only add it when I remember, I rarely eat junk food and hardly ever eat sweets plus I exercise about 3-4 times a week, which is either walking on the treadmill or do TurboJam. Even tho I do all the things I mentioned above, I still have problems with digestion (main problem is chronic constipation), and I've been to see a doctor. He ran some tests and everything came back normal so he didn't want to prescribe anything for the digestive problems. All he told me to do was to increase fiber intake and take Miralax. I've already tried both things he recommended but everything is still the same. What else can I do to help with my digestive issue?

You should try food pairing! It worked wonders for my digestion and I lost weight in the process. Get the Eat Great Lose Weight book by Suzanne Somers... you can get it cheap on ebay or amazon.. give it a shot. it works.

You may want to go to a store that sells natural remedies or supplements, even a store like GNC...they do have supplements specifically made to aid digestion. Ask the salesperson where to find these.

With the fiber increase, you still have to increase the amount of exercise you get to have things get moving down there, and remember to drink alot of water! Try that and see if it helps at all.

you are doing all the right things=maybe you should have a talk with your Dr. about it ,cause if you are having bowel problems ,the Dr. can look into it for you

That is actually kind of overweight.... my wife is your height and weighs 110... maybe that could be part of the problem.

Or, see a new doctor.

Plain and simple: Water.

Water aids both digestion and metabolism, so it's two good things in one. Try drinking more water, and spread your use of it throughout the day.

You could also look into other digestive medicines, but I don't know any that work well off the top of my head.

Hope this helps and good luck,
Brandi

i know this is kind of specific but i had all the same problems. I stopped eating wheat altogether and every single problem to do with digestion disappeared overnight. whats more i don't have to take the probiotics and i can eat anything i like! it was a dramatic change.

as for the danons and stuff, i wouldnt bother as the amount you have to eat in one go for the bacteria to have any benefit, is a huge amount. one of the things they fail to tell you in the advertising. i wouldnt waste my money if i were you. it's just something that worked for me, the wheat but you could try it for a couple of weeks and see if it helps, nothing to lose. speaking of losing i also lost a stone without trying!

Do rice instead of wheat....get some hot foods, jalapenos and double your liquid intake.
