Just in case you weren't feeling too old today, this will certainly change things. Each year the staff at BeloitCollege in Wisconsin puts together a list to try to give the faculty a sense of the mindset of this year's incoming freshmen. Here's this year's list:

The people who are starting college this fall across the nation were born in 1985. They are too young to remember the space shuttle blowing up.

Their lifetime has always included AIDS.

Bottle caps have always been screw off and plastic.

The CD was introduced the year they were born.

They have always had an answering machine.

They have always had cable.

They cannot fathom not having a remote control.

Jay Leno has always been on the Tonight Show.

Popcorn has always been cooked in the microwave.

They never took a swim and thought about Jaws.

They can't imagine what hard contact lenses are.

They don't know who Mork was or where he was from.

They never heard: "Where's the Beef?", "I'd walk a mile for a Camel" or "de plane Boss, de plane."

They do not care who shot J. R. and have no idea who J. R. even is.

McDonald's never came in Styrofoam containers.

They don't have a clue how to use a typewriter.

Pass this on to the other old fogies on your list. Notice the larger type? That's for those of you who have trouble reading the smaller print!

This is great!
I am sharing it with everyone tomorrow for leap day!!
thanx and take a star on me... ;-)

This is SO old!!!

lol the truth hurts

Ask your question daughter...

haha omg thats freaky man.

That was fantastic !

that was funny

Sadly, I am in this category.

Cool! Um... plz pick me for best answer!

Thanks! for the memories........

Have a nice day :)

I am a High School Class of '75 I remember them all, seems like yesterday.I hope the next 30 don't go as fast as the last 30.

..? i kinda get it

I can remember back to 1959.

i remember

bahaha, funny:)

this is so long and kinda old. sry. i didnt read it.

"Acid Rock"
"Acid Reflux"

LOL! I love it!!

when i was born, Truman was president, lol. so yes, a lot of this rings true.

Funny thing is, I am only fourteen and I still really appreciated and understood that!

I know who JR is and I can live without a remote

The thing is, a lot of kids, like myself, pick up on most of these things, i still really appreciate the past and all of the years before 1985 ( i was born in 1993)

so, i found this really interesting! more funny than anything :) ha but give us kids some credit...we dont just sit around in front of a tv eating microwave popcorn watching jay leno... i find popcorn in a pan exciting! and i still use cassettes! So yeah, just wanted to put my opinion out there :)

ha i am still cutting my hair short lolz
my mom makes me watch all the old tv shows
she makes sure i know about johnny carson and i know who shot J.R
i know about styrofoam containers at mcdonalds
i can use a typewriter
i heard all about "wheres the beef" "de plane boss the plane"
and all that stuff!!!

okay almost all of it i cant swim and i havent watched jaws but everything else my mom makes me watch and do so i never forget the times

HA AND I'M 13!!!

I was born in 86 and i rember everything you said i didn't get to live the middle class lifestyle we were always living 15 years behind others i didn't see a remote until i was 10 a CD until i was 13 and don't get me started on cable or the microwave, i had nightmares about jaws, contact lenese huh?, robbin williams -planet ork, If i could stuff the beef in the mouth of that old lady i would. jay leno replaces johnny carson in 92 get it right, and as for typewriter where do you think i learned to type. I can imagine this question asked in 30 years what would it say. Not many people my age comprehend how fast life goes by we will reach that age sooner rather than later.

since I'm barely 30 (positive mental attitude), here goes:

1988: Longing for our own nintendo
2008: Longing for my own XBOX 360

1988: Just hated wearing girly stuff
2008: Girly girl all the way

1988: Jungle Gym, Swings and See-Saw
2008: Cafe, coffee and friends

1988: Didn't have many friends
2008: Too many friends can't keep up with them all

1988: Fist fight with brothers all the time.
2008: Tired of bickering, *deaf mode* is way better for my mind and soul.

1988: Sun-tanned skin. Lived near the beach.
2008: Pale skin. Live in the center of town.

1988: Was so nimble and flexible, cartwheels were a piece of cake.
2008: Getting back there after weighing 76kgs. Now I'm down to 65, and last time I checked I was able to do cartwheels again. yay for me.

1988: barbie dolls and Madonna
2008: SIMS 2 and James Blunt

1988: Hash Brown Sandwiches
2008: Soy Milk and Chicken Noodle Soup

1988: Love my mommy
2008: Love my mommy even more

1988: Daddy's little girl
2008: Daddy's big girl.

lol...now i know i'm old..but i feel sorry for the kids, they've missed alot of good stuff!!

i would say i do remember and there is a difference
larry haggman was jr and that little old lady used to say whereis the beef what about spudz mckenzie and benjie
and the doors family fued the price is right telephone booths to cell phones typwriters to keyboards and cabe tv to satilite beta to vhs to dvd 8 track to cassette and then cds and mp3s note books to pcs and blackberrys the list goes on and on and johnny carson was the best tonight show host of all time
i emailed this to a few of my older friends i find this interesting .

The last part ( about the college list) is kind of eerie - odd to think of things like that.

I din't read it. Good luck with picking a best aswer tho!
