Is there Financial Aid for People with Hepatitis C?

i have a friend with hepatitis c and I have been searching and would like to know if there is any kind of institution that aids those with hep c who have no insurance and very little/no money. I have found information on clinical trials but u have to meet certain requirements I am not sure she qualifies so I would like any information I can get aside from the Clinical trials to start geting her some help...she has in fact been tested and does have it I dont think it is chronic HC \yet.

Schering Phamacuticle gave me my medicine for free
I would stay away from trials. JMO

www.beincharge.com < you can apply on-line for the medicine

there is a website for basic health the website address is www.basishealth.hca.wa.gov that is for washington state you should be able to look for the state you are in basis health insurance goes by your income she should also seek out to department and social health services so she can explain her sistuation maybe they can help her for free also call the health department in your area they should be able to direct you to the proper location to seek medical attention for little or no charge she also may be able to qualify for ssi (social security income and with this comes state medical and that is free you would have to go to the social security office in your area they will hassel you for a while and denie your claim and then you just have to apeal it and eventually they will accept her its a long stressfull process to get any kind of medical care through the state but when i goes through its worth it i wish you and your friend the best of luck i just lost my mother about a year ago due to hep GOD BLESS

have her ask the doctor for a study trial. this way all things, ie, visits, meds and testing are all paid for.
if she gets on a trial more than likely medicaid/or medical will cover it!

more than likely she will be accepted into some sort of study!
there is no reason why she should not ask.

financial aid or loans will not loan someone about 100,000 dollars for treatment.

You say that you're not sure it's chronic yet. In order to find out, she will need to have a PCR blood test, which is also called a viral load test. That will detect any active virus in her blood. If she has chronic infection, and most people do go on to have chronic hepatitis C (HCV), then treatment can be made available to her.
There is financial assistance available from the pharmaceutical companies that manufacture the treatment medications. One company is called Roche Pharmaceuticals and their patient assistance program is called Pegassist. Their phone number is 1-877-Pegasys. They will pre-screen her over the phone to see if she may qualify for free medication. Most people do, as long as they don't have any insurance. She will need to have a doctor (gastroenterologist) that will follow her treatment. She will need to provide income information, such as last year's tax return info, and then the doctor will need to sign the form too. The other company that manufactures the treatment medication is called Schering-Plough. Their patient assistance program is called Commitment to Care and they can be reached through this website:
http://www.schering-plough.com/schering_...
There are options if she wants treatment. She may have to do a little bit of work to find the info, but these programs have helped many people. Our hep c support group started a clinic three years ago, and over 60 people without insurance have received treatment medication through this program. Best wishes.
