Questions about Planned Parenthood and STD Screenings LOSING MY MIND AND NEED HELP/CLosure?

I'm about to go to planned parnethood and get tested for stds amongst other things.
I was wondering how long does it take to get the results to the STD testing, and how they will notify me? whether it's good news ont he test or bad, I REALLY REALLY REALLY do NOT want to go back in and hear it face to face, I'd rather over the phone or through a letter...that way I can keep my composure by myself..or lose it if need be. I'm very nervous about this..I was raped 2 years ago and want to amke sure i'm clean for my future husband. but I don't want the people involved to think less of me for asking for the test or if the test come back positive to anything.

I gave blood about month-2months ago and it was all clean... but does the red cross check ALL STD'S? I know they check for AIDS, Hepatitus, and antibodies, and shyllis
but what about :
clamidia, herpes HPV ghnonnerrea etc>>????

what do you all think..do tyou think I'm ok or not??

I was raped a long time ago, and I can tell you that I was terrified that I was given something other then just the nightmares and distrust.

Don't be ashamed of getting your body a clean bill of health, and don't be scared to tell your doctor or nurse that you would rather not have to come back in for the results.

Tell them your phone number, and tell them to CALL you with the results. They'll happily do that for you.

Best of luck to you!

thank you sooo much for your help. it's been over a week now, and I'm glad it's over. the inital visit/screening wasnt too bad. the LPN was not Friendly AT ALL, but the NP was AWesome and made me feel a lot better and not down on myself. Thank you for your comment Report It

for as aids and the others yes...but u have to have a pap screening to check for gonaherra, chylmida and the other hpv...but those things are cureable...and if h had the herpes u would have been went to the doctor cause u would know

Friend, as a volunteer for the Planned Parenthood office, I can promise you that we aren't there to judge you, we are there to help you. You can be anonymously tested -- that is even more private than confidential testing. No one will know your name, just your an ID number. Be honest with the counselor about your past and about your fears and everything will fine. For right now, there is nothing to lay fears to rest like knowledge. Go to http://www.plannedparenthood.org/

I am really sorry to hear that. Some guys are just *******.

Sounds like you are emotionally tied down by the ordeal. But the people at Planned Parenthood are great. Tell them your fears. You will get good care. They will give you a bill of health at the end. You are too decent a woman for this kind of garbage. Your future husband will be a lucky guy, I think.

Most of your STD's have a three day turn around time. Your HPV will be a little bit longer because it is a more time consuming test. I'm assuming they send them out to a reference lab. Remember no news is good news and they will notify you by phone if something is wrong. They should tell you what they "think" is wrong and if they want you to come back in for a retest or if they are going to call you in an antibiotic. Remember that everyone worries before going into these types of appt's. You probably don't have anything to worry about. Good luck and god bless.

They will not think any less of you and frankly who cares..its your sexual health at stake. You need blood work and specify herpes, syphillis...Id basically go in and say you want to be tested for everything and anything. Its better to know then go on and then something pop up later making you look unfaithful. If this man is going to be your future husband then maybe you guys should go in together. This is after all the true test of love is it not...can he be with you through the good and the bad...
good luck but do not postpone.

Hey Flower-gal, Planned Parenthood is a very confidentially and private organization. They provide you with options on how you want to be contacted with your results, by mail being one of them. I'm sorry to hear about you horrific experience, but you can rest assure that by going to P.P., you're going to receive the best possible care and all the screenings you request, and best of all it's totally confidential! GOOD LUCK!

The shame comes in NOT being tested. Being tested and coming up positive for anything is not shameful to the people at planned parenthood. They are professional people and are there to help you and will provide information that you need in order to take care of your sexual health.
They are not looking at their clients as horrible people. They are not a bunch of ignorant people. If you come up positive they prefer for you to go in and are not allowed to give the information over the phone. Many times blood work provides false positives and more blood is needed to run another test to be sure you are positive. It happened to me. I donated blood when I was 17 and my blood turned up positive for syphllis and my Mom got a certified letter in the mail because I was a minor stating that my blood tested positive for syphllis and I needed to get to a doctor to be screened again. It turned out to be a false positive and now I just tell my doctor every time they do blood work that they will need to run an RPR because of this.
I know you are embarrassed to get your tootsies in the stirrups, but truly we all need to do it for our own safety and the safety of our sexual partners and the safety of future children. You should recruit a girlfriend to go with you so she can suffer the embarrassment along with you and then you can get moral support from her as well.
Urine tests can bring results back in a few days as for blood work it usually takes anywhere from one week to two before they get the results. They will call you or you can call them for your results. Many will not give over the phone. If you turn up HIV Positive they will call you in and take you into a room for confidentiality and have a counselor ready to talk to you to help you digest the information.
Just take a deep breath and do what you need to do. Even HIV isn't a death sentence anymore and truly isn't anything to be ashamed of.
Take Care, Get Tested, and don't forget to Breathe.
