Emergency Room Dr Cut himself while working on my child..?

my 11yz old daughter got ring worm on her head(she wrestles) temple right along hairline she is taking a strong med oral for it (Gris-Peg) It got a little infected and it got swollen probably size of i would say a small cherry we took her to E.R room she was treated by the Physcians assistant where he decided to incise the area to drain any puss he numbed her. He left the room and came back to incise that area he couldnt get any puss out and kept squeazing it . At that time he use the scalpel again we really couldnt see how he was doing it cause she was laying down he popped up and walked out of the room it had come to our understanding he cut himself while working on her we asked for help and when he came back he couldnt remeber if he got blood on her or not??CrossContamination? she was tested he also was and the hospital wanted to give her the aids medication just in case they said my husband refused it.both test came back negative what should we do to the hospital ?? she was scared

you sound surprised that your hubby refused the aids med. Were you not consulted about this? You should have been as this is your child too. And you should have agreed to the aids meds. Its one of the only thing that will prevent the spread of HIV, given to a lot of infected mothers who are pregnant to prevent the spread of the virus to the fetus.
Next time, you should question everything, you should make sure you have all the info you need in order to make the best decision possible for the welfare of your child.
And, HIV will not turn up in the blood stream for a min. of 6 weeks after the person has been infected. And there is a lot more then just HIV that you need to be concerned about, any other blood based disease, hep C among others could have been transmitted. In another 6 months (standard time after a potentional infection has taken place) you should redo the blood test and confirm if a transmission has taken place.
O and btw they also give that aids medication of females who are raped. Its been around for a long time, the only reason why its not on the market, is because its super expensive to produce, so its only available to health care workers.
I would wait it out and see what happens, if necessary file a complaint against the doctor or the hosptial. But what you should really do, is sit down right now and have every person that was accountable in the hosptial write down exactly what happened. Your tale of the events will be different from your daughter's and so on. You want this in case it goes to court, you have a fresh version of the events on paper written shortly after the event happened and before the mind has had a change to over annalyze the event

Accidents happen. He should have been up front with you, but just because he didn't doesn't mean you get to sue. Now, if a further test reveals that she's HIV positive, sue both the hospital and the doctor, but until then, you'd just be wasting your time and money.

Make sure that you keep records. If all is well I would forget about it. Test later make sure. Or even ask a lawyer. But I really don't think there is much you can do.But if anythings comes of it later you will have records

I agree with the previous answer. Accidents do happen and no harm was done. Sure your daughter was scared but then again she was in the ER getting a large swollen bump on her head cut opened and drained...what 11 year old child wouldn't be a bit scared. I think you have to ask yourself, this man cut open his hand/finger doing his job trying to help your daughter. I think the first thought in everyone's mind when another person makes a mistake is lawsuit. People just need to relax...stuff happens. In the end the problem was taken care of and you got a free blood test and found out your daughter is in good health. Sue for getting good news...come on!!

its ok dont worry maybe go back to your PRimary care doctor and explain it dont sweat the small stuff and everythings small i worry too al ot!!
